What’s stopping associated music being on streaming services? Does anyone know why so much associated stuff is missing from streaming services ? Considering how technically easy it must be to make the music available, why is stuff like NPG (Goldnigga), Vanity 6 Apollonia 6, Madhouse, The Family, Jill Jones not available especially when these are almost impossible to find in digital form legally. Who is it that sits in the middle of those that want to legally listen and those that want their material heard sand say “No, these songs will remain unavailable on any format even though there is demand and streaming platforms would be a very easy way of doing it and even though we aren’t releasing on any other format either”. It’s some miserable shit and just the sort of thing that makes the world a worse place. |

Seems beyond just the associated acts - even NPG which whilst not a pure Prince release is as close as it gets with Goldnigga (which I don't even think is on Warner) and not to forget Madhouse 8 is nearly all him apart from Eric Leeds. Loads of precious material. As I said, it's some sick shit. If I download and distribute illegally I could technically be sued and the claim may involve they lose money but if I say OK, sell it to me, err well it's not for sale. If they say it's an asset that they may release later, well in 10 years there will barely be anyone left that cares anymore - it's a completely dwindling niche fan base. Just let people pay and pay/access and listen. HD Download sites or streaming sites, don't care how, just have some respect and let people listen to material that either Prince felt fit to release once upon a time or the remaining artists such as the lovely Jill Jones or Apples I'm sure woiuld be happy to have available for fans to enjoy.
Sorry for the rant! By the way, message to Mods: I think this post could be on the main forum - it includes Prince's material as well, and someone reading there might know why.

at the very least......the Apollonia 6 album,the Family album,the Mazarati album and the Jill Jones album should all be widely available on the streaming services.I can't understand why they're not. .[Edited 3/7/21 10:48am] | |

I am glad that I invested in all of the official CDs of all the associated artists back when they first came out: Apollonia 6 Vanity 6 The Family Mazarati Jill Jones both Madhouse albums Eric Leeds Brownmark (the first 2 solo albums) Sheila E. - the first 3 albums NPG Wendy and Lisa (just the first 2 albums are good) Morris Day Vanity (are her albums associated since Prince has nothing to do with them?) The Day Zs Andre Cymone The Girls Jesse Johnson Da Krash TaMara and the Seen I think I had Bobby Z's first solo but I think I got rid of it - it was not worth the space in my collection Ingrid Chavez Carmen Electra Mayte Dez Dickerson All of the Pasiley Park releases - TC Ellis, Good Question, The Three o Clock, George Clinton) And - of course - The Time (the 4 REAL Time albums + Condensate)

Jill Jones album... it's a crime it's not available. Violet blue is one of the best songs ever written!
Ingrid chavez... Some truly excellent tracks and it still sounds fresh It feels with the decisions by the high ups to hide this stuff like being in an exclusive club except I wanr everyone to join it as music is there to be heard and what someone said is right in ten years there will be less relevance. Aren't those usually released on labels like Numero Group & Light In The Attic that specialize in obscure performers and small little known record labels. They don't generally do major label stuff. Most of Jermaine Jackson's Motown albums have never been on CD, and the ones that were are imports from Japan. Yet there's deluxe CD sets of LaToya Jackson albums and her records weren't popular in the first place. Jermaine had some success, mainly on R&B radio. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton | |

I believe the lead singer of the band had a sexual assault charge against him that put the band in limbo. The group got a new lead singer and rebrand themselves 3 years later as Kool Skool.
