Yeah … no.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

One I'm so sick of Biopics, hopefully they Never do one on Prince regardless of who does it production wise I don't want some actor playing Prince regardless of who it is it will come off cheesy and like an impersonator. If you are going to do anything on the life of prince do a freaking documentary get real stuff real footage real interviews none of this garbage.

This^. Also, maybe Sheila should cool it for a bit when it comes to memorializing Prince. Her autobiography was chock-full of "alternative facts" as were many of her interviews since his death. However, I'd be VERY interested in a documentary that focused primarily on HER iconic career over the years that was interspersed with unseen Prince footage she might be sitting on.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Although I don't think Sheila's version of the "biopic Prince" should be the first one to come out.

I have a growing unease for Sheila's continued Prince-focused career moves since his death. Comes off as opportunistic and exploitative.

I would love a balanced, truthful objective docu-style series, rather than Sheila's inceessant, overblown, self-serving history rewrites, that come off as insincere and seem to be pissingboff a lot more Prince fans than just me.

Most of all these 80's associates present alternative facts and yet nobody says anything. Sheila E or Mayte do something, and this so called fan community is ready to burn them at the stake.

I just saw this on Housequake's Twitter. Complaining about it is insane. She has every right to tell her side of the story. She's also a fellow Oaklander, who does great stuff for the city, so GTFOH with that smile

Wagers on her saying she and Prince were the same person in a previous life or married in a past life...

Sheila does have every right to tell her story...but why not tell the story herself in a DOCUMENTARY instead of a pseudo-fictional biopic. confused

Fair. I'll always prefer a documentary.

She can obviously do whatever she wants. My only issue is that this will be the first film about him, but won't focus on him and his music but through the lens of someone else Who we know was a important collaborator and partner.

If the estate doesn't allow the music, i'm afraid this will turn into a situation like Andre 3000/Jimi, Where are the estate denied the rights to use the music but they went ahead and made the film anyway.

I agree with everyone else no movie should be done unless it is a documentary.

I love Sheila, but this I do not. There are so many ways to make $, why this? He would've absolutely hated this, especially coming from her or really anybody. This man was notoriously private - she knew this - who is telling her this is a good idea??

.

I don't like to rank the romantic relationships of his girlfriend/wives but honestly besides the notion of "She can do whatever she pleases", what justifies their relationship above anybody else that he had been with?

.

As everyone is bringing up, if it was truly about the music - any venture into films would be done in the way of already existing footage. A waste of time, resources and cashgrab from someone who I otherwise really respect.

Is she though? Considering her post-Prince narrative, she's definitely not to be trusted. She's practically painted herself as a grieving widow.

I think she really cared about him and probably has some regrets. I have a soft spot for her cause my cousin who’s a drummer worked with her recently and they keep in touch. It’s definitely not easy to get recognition in the industry as a female drummer, so I think she deserves a documentary

Agreed, a documentary about her would be great! Her story is interesting enough and is always going to feature Prince but this biopic... HMMMMM.

If she really cared about him, then why didn't she talk to the cops, we know that Kirk called her the night prince died. What was the call about? She literally stated in an interview after he died that she's gonna find out what happened, cried her eyes out. And it turns out she already knew something. Plus the sh*t she pulled with this symbol. neutral
