Nothing new, I would say. As we all know, he has signed an NDA, so cannot answer anything interesting/specific when asked interesting/specific questions.

We can expect 2 releases 4 2021 in addition 2 associated artists ones.
Once again, we're lucky. Will we keep up?

I hope we'll also get the Originals Prince vocal versions with the associated artists releases. That would be really great.

I think that's the only way I would buy an associated artist release.

He says he thinks we will get a taste of unreleased music from 2000-2010 shortly.

I hope that means we'll be getting a whole unreleased album from that period.

nah that wouldnt work

and it would be insulting to the time, sheila, and whoever else to have the music released that way

yes prince wrote and produced it, but they made it what it was, not him, ultimately

i think it will just be some releases of the time or sheilas albums, thats about it

Associated artists? That's interesting.

They're thinking about it and will discuss it a bit more in the future. Nothing specific. I wouldn't hold my breath.

.

The overall impression I get from this interview is that they will release stuff that will make money. So, yeah, they're probably discussing a lot of things internally, which doesn't mean much.

.

They're currently working on two projects, but the way it is expressed, it's not even clear that they will be released in 2021 (even though the question mentions 2021).

I hope so too but I think that is too much to hope for at this point. Probably one of the last live shows, but that is also cool with me. BUT a whole unreleased late period album would be AMAZINGGGG!!!!!!

I like that the interviewer didn't shy away from questions about sound quality issues with SOTT SD, even mentioning specific songs like Wally. If it's true that every song was released in the best quality available, I'd be surprised that the Wally master, the Wally multitracks, and any and all mixdown cassettes were all damaged to the extent that they were only able to salvage a final version that has tape garble noises.

While Howe isn't always exactly forthcoming, at least he acknowledges some of the issues when presented to him, instead of pretending like they don't exist. Though I'm not sure if I'm buying that there's not a better sounding Wally in the vault somewhere, just as I'm not sure I buy that Wouldn't You Love To Love Me from Originals sounds the way it does because it's from a 16 track recording, as he once stated.

I'm excited to possibly be getting two new projects next year. I hope that they are held to the 1999 SD standards, and not SOTT SD ones.

The interview says nothing like this.

"Oui, je le crois. Il y a deux projets sur lesquels nous travaillons actuellement"

"Il y a effectivement une possibilité qu’à un certain moment, certains des albums d’artistes signés sur Paisley Park Records puissent être réédités. Je ne sais pas exactement quand cela se produira, mais ce sont bien des discussions que nous avons en interne."

I do confirm what I think about you!

To me it is crazy to think that tapes from only the 80s are damaged.

I'm a native French speaker and I tend to agree with Bart here. See my reply above. They're currently working on two projects = it doesn't mean they will be released in 2021. I expect them to work on multiple projects all the time. Yes, they will eventually be released, but not necessarily in the next 12 months. About associated artists: they're seriously discussing it. They have no concrete plan. And they will have to convince the guys that want to make money out of all this that this is a good idea. It could happen in 2021 (not likely) or much, much later.

.

"There is a possibility that maybe one day we could get re-releases of associate artists' albums" is nowhere near any certainty that we're ever going to get this, let alone getting two. In the past Howe has said there are possibilities about tons of things and yet almost none of those things have gotten released. Presenting Howe's words as certainties and suggesting we're going to get those things soon is blatant misinformation. All he says is that they're currently working on two projects that might surprise fans, should they ever see the light.

.

Can we expect two releases in 2021? That is a basic assumption, since that is the minimum we've gotten in the past couple of years anyway: at least one Sony/Legacy re-release, and at least one Deluxe/Expanded WBR/Rhino release. However, Howe says nothing to guarantee this.

.
