Love it. Nice 90s vibe. I'm not crazy about the rap but even so, this is by far the best MD song in years and a good sign for his upcoming album.

Finally a song that is not just about "i'm funky" or trying to be comedy. I still wish that Morris would collaborate with a producer like Questlove, Raphael Saadiq, Jamie Lidell or someone of that caliber (same goes for The Time or Alexander O'Neal - these guys seem to choose a producer based on whoever just happens to be around or is the son of a friends niece with a copy of FL Studio). I'm not hating, quite the opposite, but both Alex' and Morris productions of the last years sound so generic and bland, where's the musical ambitions ?

It's surprisingly better than I expected but the damn rapper ruins it. His Christmas song though, THAT one was hot. It's because of that one that I even took the time to check this one out.

Why can't old school guys like Morris understand that sticking a rap into a song does not cross them over to a younger crowd? Stick with what people know and want to hear. Cooler Than Santa Claus is way better than Headrush for this reason - it has the undiluted Minneapolis sound that made Morris a legend. Headrush makes me think of terrible 90s Morris Day like Guaranteed - even though it is not quite that bad.

I wonder what happened to the song he did with ZZ Top

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
