I wonder if We will get Deluxe Editions for the first 3 Time Albums (The Time/What Time Is It?/Ice Cream Castle)?? With Bonus Tracks/Concert DVD's. That would be.........SO NIIIIIIICE! And THAT"S "What Time It Is"..... Bwa-HAAAAA!!!!!

And there probably isn't a ton of stuff, per se. I sorta think Prince had specific types of songs in mind when he was going thru his music to find stuff for The Time. But I do think a remastered album, plus a disk of any 12" versions or B-sides (which, still, is minimal), and some outtakes would be a good 2 disk set. A concert DVD would round out a nice 3 disk set overall.

The same rule goes for The Family, Jill Jones, and maybe Madhouse. Although, the latter may not have even less outtakes, since much of 8 was recorded back to back IIRC.

Just these remastered and reissued would be fine by me. I do have Ice Cream Castles on the Neapolitan vinyl from a couple of years ago. But it wasn't a remaster.

Oh this is a must!! Again, the 80s proteges are a definate that spotslights Prince's legacy

Initial tracking took place on 14 January, 1982 at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA (three days after Bold Generation and Gigolos Get Lonely Too, the same day as The Walk, and the day before Colleen), during sessions for The Time's second album What Time Is It?.

It was intended to be sung by Morris Day, but Prince reclaimed the song to use on 1999 instead. It is likely that Morris Day recorded vocals for the song during these sessions, but this is unconfirmed.

I say a BIG yes but with Prince's versions too...

so... the Prince versions of the associate album tracks have WB rights, I believe. The associate albums never fell under an umbrella Prince contract, as the fronting bands all had their own contracts and were treated as if they actually recorded the music. I am not sure whatever happened to the rights for those albums. Does anyone know? And when Paisley Park Records started, it wasn't a "real" label. Most albums were WB, some were done by Reprise (towards the early 90s, such as Pandemonium). Of course, Pandemonium is different, as it has substantial input from people that were not Prince.

I think (as with any of release) those involved in the process/band should be a part of the release(no more Kirks and Joshuas)

Man, I would love a The Time Deluxe set, with their albums remastered, a vault tracks CD, a live concert CD plus a live DVD. That would really be C.O.O.L.!!!

I am just glad that they finally got around to doing Condensate regardless of what name they had to use...

Although they hadn't yet really played together as a group in the studio, in August 1981 THE TIME performed their first live appearance at a showcase for a small group of executives from Warner Bros. Records at the S.I.R. Studio in Los Angeles, with Prince overseeing the proceedings by the soundboard. During rehearsals for the upcoming "Controversy"-Tour with Prince, THE TIME incorporated Jerome Benton into their acts to be Morris Day's on-stage valet. The band warmed-up in autumn 1981 by playing a small number of low-key gigs around the Minneapolis aera.

THE TIME made their public live debut on 7th October 1981 at Sam's, a music club in Downtown, Minneapolis, with Prince digging the show back by the soundboard again. A few weeks later they embarked as the main supporting act on Prince's 1981/1982 "Controversy"-Tour.

Waiting for the Jill Jones re-issue. That to me is probably the biggest underappreciated gem from Prince's best period. It's a shame that album never got its due, and stayed of print for so long.

After 35 years as the Twin Cities' go-to music photographer, Daniel Corrigan looks back with the collection Heyday, previewed here alongside an interview with First Avenue's in-house shooter.

What was the Time like to shoot?

They were colorful and action-packed; they didn't stand in the same place. So they were a blast to shoot. You can shoot [a band like] Son Volt—whom I love—and they just stand there, right? There's nothing. Or you can do Morris Day, where he's back and forth across the stage. The keyboards are in place, but everyone else is mad dancing. I remember very colorful sets. With Son Volt, they just set their stuff up on the stage and stand there and play, and that's their thing, and I love them for it. It's some of my favorite music. But it's a different experience when it's the Time.
Photography is such now that I'm starting to believe it isn't really a photograph until it's a print. Because I ran into these Polaroids that Dave Pirner and I made in the Netherlands, on tour with Soul Asylum. We found a box of Polaroids from Husker Du's Warehouse shoot. I remember the pictures; they weren't a surprise. But physically seeing the objects was cool. See More
