Vanity BioPic

Seems this broadcaster is producing and starring in a Vanity/Denise Matthews biopic. Apparently, she grew close to Denise in her final years and was given lots of biographical info. https://m.youtube.com/wat...xYRb8KuEfg while I am excited at the prospect of such a film, this woman doesn’t seem to quite fit the bill.

Aside from some diehard Prince fans, do you think anyone is interested in a Vanity biopic? I was surprised no one was interested in her book.

About 10 years ago, there was a Vanity biopic in the works (by VH-1). Supposedly there was even a guy in the film that was going to portray P too.

Mayte’s book was a best seller because she was Prince’s wife and it was right after his death. Not a fair comparison. Maybe that question would be answered better by someone who didn’t buy Vanity’s book or didn’t follow her on social media. Not many did. It’s interesting to see how some celebs are exalted when they die.

Right. Even ex wives from twenty years ago that none ever cared about prior get in on the exaltation action if the celeb is as popular as Prince.

I would totally watch a vanity biopic by the way. So what if it's only for the hardcore prince fans? That's why we're here, right? Also, if the marketing is done right, I'm sure there'll be interested non-fans. Don't know, she had a pretty interesting life, right?

Vanity had a wild and interesting life story. I think people would be interested in her story even if they weren't big Primce fans.

She was severely beaten and tortured by her father when she was a child, started modeling and acting in her early career, discovered by Prince who dated her and placed her in one of the first girl group of the 80's, and left him just before the movie he wanted her to star in blew up that would have made her a mega star, became a star in her own right with the movie The Last Dragon, was known throughout the 80's for her beauty and as a sex symbol, had to struggle with the injustice of women trying to make it in Hollywood, lived a fast and promiscuous lifestyle dating some of Hollywood's most famous men, got severely addicted to drugs and crack, Overdosed on drugs and was told she only has a few days to live, spoke to God on her death bed, turned away from her life of fame and gave up everything, turned her life around and completely overcame her drug addiction, married a freaking serial killer, lived for twenty something years without a kidney, dedicated her life to God, became an evangelist and a minister who inspired and helped a lot of lost people, and also people who used to idolized her from her Vanity days, then died 67 days before the icon and lover who discovered her would die. Did I miss anything? If her story can't interest people that aren't Prince fans, their not human, lol.

Boring.
I know stories and people far more interesting than that.
She had no talents whatsoever.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one including the haters... but
a bio pic about her life isn't for hating Prince fans who could never stand her ass from day one. Lucky for the bio she has a sizable fan base other than a few haters on Prince.org, and lucky for you, no one is forcing you to watch the shit.

Mayte's book was far more affordable and made available because it was put out by a publishing company. Vanity's book was self published and only sold through her wedsite which was pretty obscure. I think her book was $100.00, then it went down to $60.00. Those that have Vanity's book either love it or hated it. She was religious in the end and many were critical of her evangelical themed writing. Those who loved the book spoke about the amazing pictures.

A bio Pic about Denise's life is a great thing. I will watch. I have to read her biography when I get a chance. Does anyone know if she saw a psychologist to resolve her issues with her abusive father?

I would definately watch! I often wondered why TV-ONE didn't do one on her a few years back when they were filming bio pics. If I'm not mistaken, their Miki Howard bio pic did quite well in the ratings so no doubt a Vanity bio would have done just as well.

Im interested and a lot of other people are too. Even if it is only P fans, it's a reasonable size fanbase. Now the question is quality because I don't know these people nor the quality of their work. And it doesn't sound like it's something her sister is behind which is who I want to hear from but either she changed her mind or is having trouble with publishing or the Estate. Who knows.
