Dr. Fink and Sheila E. on Small Club

Keys and drums are awesome on Small Club. Are those all by Dr. Fink and Sheila E.? The instrumental intro is so cool and atmospheric. I’ve never really heard either of them play that way on studio recordings. It’s got a jazz, experimentation vibe. Then there are drums on Just My Imagination and keyboards on People Without. That stuff is great. Do you agree and can you recommend anything with drums and keys similar to that 1988 after show?

Prince was on both keys and guitar at various points in the night. Miko and Fink obviously are brilliant pros and you often can't even tell who is on what and that's how you know the band is right, imo.

The drumming is flawless as usual from Sheila.

Small Club stands out on its own for being the best jack of all trades in terms of setlists. It has throwback covers, improv, classics, new tracks, and unreleased shit and somehow it all sounds extremely cohesive and momentous. Simply a stunning performance and possibly his best one ever (in my opinion). The humor is there, the personality, the weirdness. The full Prince experience is right there.

I found that some Gold shows had similar thought and care put into it. The birthday show, I think 95 in Miami?, is similarly top tier to me.
