ah, there it is! i watched it when she put it online and then i couldn't find it anymore
the day after (i'd watched it very late at night before going to bed and basically just
skipped through it because i was too tired).

so i was starting to believe that perhaps i'd just dreamt it lol

i hope no one is going to interfere with here posting and she will actually upload 12
tracks in the coming months. that would be amazing.

it's so great to just hear a few more 'new' bits of prince we haven't heard before,
like the 3121 live performance of "beautiful strange" and now this.

Wow, so nice to get to hear something we haven´t heard before and from his later phase in his career.

Thanks for sharing.

"HEY FAM,

THANKS FOR TUNING IN! UNFORTUNATELY I’VE BEEN ASKED TO STOP SHARING THESE REHEARSAL PERFORMANCES WITH ALL OF YOU..."

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The Estate could have been cool about it. She did it for free, on her private profile, it was only 12 songs from rehearsals, while the Estate is sitting on thouands and thousands of hours of rehearsals, so it didn't exactly threaten their business. Letting it happen would have been a nice gesture to both a former Prince musician who played on these recordings, and the fans' community. And if it was about protecting their property, they could even have sanctioned it to be clear about the fact that you don't do this behind their back. This is just another insult (in a long series) from the people managing the Estate to the fans... Sad...

Seems odd what has been out there and what there is issue with. I have a strange feeling it has to do with things they don't know about existing and being put out there in any form, I think their concern is that audio is easily stolen and someone could have this pressed and circulating in no time before the estate even knew it existed.

They are simply doing what any lawyer will tell you is a company's duty: protecting their intellectual property. Now when exactly are they planning to release a boxset with these 2009 rehearsals? Probably not gonna happen before 2050 if ever. They could have issued Rhonda a $1 licence, or whatever, stating that it was valid only for these 12 specific tracks and that she wasn't to ever post them anywhere else than on her personal profile. Now yes, there is the risk that Eye Records or some other bootlegger might make a CD out of these. In this day and age where most people will have downloaded the tracks from Rhonda's profile anyway, they'll sell a few hundred copies of it online, to aging hardcore fans only, people who will buy any Estate release anyway. If the Estate ever decides to set up an online service with digital only downloads/streams, which honestly is the only sensible thing to do if they ever want to make proper use of the ridiculous amont of material they have in their possession, they will also face the risk that some bootlegger will make CD's out of the stuff, but that's no reason not to release anything anymore unless it's on CD. Hell, Prince himself put a lot of material online, either to be downloaded or streamed, and the fact that it would end-up on some bootlegs didn't stop him. This is 2020 for cryin' out loud.

I think there's something to this. If people managing i are caught off guard it looks like their failing, and really they're likely trying to cover that they don't know if they have these tapes or not, or if they're supposed to have them, and if they're anything someone can make money off.

So they're just trying to cover their asses.

Shame they made her stop.

I guess they’re thinking, ‘If we turn a blind eye to one person/ ex-band member doing this, then the flood gates will open’.

A still further reason for them to set up a proper music website where folks can pay them for obscure material like this, which has little commercial potential but would be sought after by the likes of us.

cool
