Of course she said that Because Lisa is not the type to "claim" a song like that. However, I think if you consider the lyrics of Strage Way and that it was written not long after Lisa, it's quite possible the song was inspired by her. Prince had no idea she was gay at that time, and she was also living at his house. And she was beautiful and talented. Not a stretch at all.

Prince had no idea Lisa was gay when he wrote both songs. He did not find out until he began staying at their little house in LA in early '83.

Never heard that but Lisa lived with Prince when she first joined the group on and off for a couple years and the song "Lisa" gets recorded right after. She describes him "romancing" her, and being dramatic with one another.

She says she doesn't know if it's about her, that he went up to her and said "this isn't about you, you know" which she thinks could be taken either way, maybe to mean it was about her, and also that the lyrics could apply.

He also asked Wendy to join the band before 1983.

I know that Lisa stated that Prince most likely just used her name for the song - it's written in the Matt Thorne Biography. It's just my opinion that it very well could have been inspired by her, especially if you look at the lyrics to Strange Way. Lisa was living with him, so they were spending tons of time together. It's certainly not a stretch. I think he was enamored by her playing as much or more than anything else.

You're right I mixed up Sexuality and Automatic. They weren't filmed less than a year apart though and both are prior to 1983.

The Out magazine article actually says the opposite of what you posted. You misquoted.

Okay, but you keep correcting this when you're the one that mistated it as 2 years, and either way it's prior to 1983.

Wendy saying "And we looked at each other for the first time and I thought..." could also mean the first time they locked eyes on set that day, when Prince was all dressed to the nines, not literally that they'd never met or looked at each other.

Prince(r.i.p.) slept on the couch. No one NEVER believes all the events I attend.
