Purple Rain Tour Openers? All I have seen is Sheila E and Appolonia 6 opened. Did they do the whole tour, was Sheila always the middle act?, setlists? Seems you can find the Time and Vanity 6 video footage from previous tours, not looking for video, but just curious if anyone saw it live or how it went down, I enjoy Sheila a lot, but any concert footage of her is not from her as the opener as far as I can tell. Thinking she would be playing just a few songs from the Glamourous Life. merf |

I saw Prince & The Revolution and Sheila E. opened! That was December 1984 @ Buffalo Memorial Auditorium (Buffalo NY). Apollonia 6 did NOT open! Jerome was there< because My Friend Wally & I met Him in the Buffalo Hilton Lobby! And He was COOL!!!!
In a PERFECT World, the Bill would have been Prince & The Revoulution, The Time (but Morris & Jesse were gone), Sheila E. & Apollonia 6!!

Appreciate the info, would have been great to see Sheila open for Prince, hopefully the crowd appreciated her.

I guess I read that as both being openers, have the Syracuse VHS, they both join in on Prince's set.
Suppose Apollonia never really toured, oh well, sure like any Vanity 6 footage I have seen.
Nice that you met Jerome, I think I would have been overwhelmed to meet anyone from the Prince camp. merf |

I was at that concert! . . Yeah Apples 6 never opened. maybe they came on at the Baby I'm A Star encore once or twice (like Syracuse). .
In contrast, Sheila and her band opened the entire tour, ,and always joined for the I Would Die 4 U/Baby Im A Star encore.
