I have nothing against Cat, was a fan during the SOTT years etc.

But if you read what she said after she heard about the SOTT re-release or whatever it was called for Europe, she does not exaclty come across as an intellectual. I will leave it at that. |

But I too always thought Sheila E exploited Prince’s death more than anyone else out there.
Her shows are made up of 80% Prince tracks. When her catalogue has a good hours worth of hits at least.

When I saw her a couple of years back, I was left disappointed as the show ended up being a Prince tribute rather than a Sheila E gig.
Unlike the Time who play their own tunes and love them for it. Waahaaa! Announcing that Glamorous Life Prince cruise May of 2016, a month after he passed was not a good look for her. It left a very bad taste in Prince fans mouth. People don't forget those things when stuff like this surface. Can anyone blame them? She set herself up for it. I am clearly in the minority of people who just don't give a hoot. I see it from an entirely different perspective. I see her paying tribute to an era of her life with soneone with whom she was a valid creative partner and co-architect (along with other musicians from that time who were part of the fabric of what was being created in the Prince Universe). I see it perhaps as part of her healing from that chapter of her life. If she wants to spend a few years playing Purple Rain tunes to go with her Glamourous Life work, I'm all for it. Maybe because that era means the most to me since I first started listening to the dude as a kid in '78. I just don't care, as long as she does the music she was part of justice, and with love, I'm cool. |

The story was Sheila got the same treatment Morris did, expecting more dates (it might have been those same LA shows too) and then she got stuck holding the bag for bringng out her family. A couple years later she made it more formal announcing that she wouldn't be working with him again. Nobody knows if it was the same thing or another incident.
That cruise was a bad look though. I mean....just why?
Also a bad look is talking about the Purple Rain cast list at this point. I wonder if she thinks Sheila E. bumped her from continuing her role and touring with Appollonia 6?
Brenda is the surprising one. She walked away from the Prince world, and comes off really sweet in interviews. Jill and Apps seem to be the ones with a reputation for being nice that are always jumping into these catfights. The bottom line is you can't have a rotating harem, tie it to work and fame, and money, and not have it blow up when they're getting petty enough to care over who baked the cake and when. I guess I get why Leroy would be annoyed, but to say something publically? Absurd.
That "HeShe" comment isn't okay either way. It's out of left field, not to mention, it doesn't really align with some other gossip involving Sheila anyway.

Forget that she comes off like a live wire.....here she slips and changes the story on how she met Prince, admits she had a physical relationship with him after the work relationship stopped, and refers to Appollonia as having a relationship with him. She also addresses the secret lovechild story. |

"our Purple Rain family" that is part of the problem. Purple Rain was 1 fucking album/song/movie in 1 year out of a 40 year career. Apollonia is smoking some strong shit if she believes the manic nonsense that comes out of her mouth. Idk what the truth is and Sheila E. definitely rubs me the wrong way at times when she speaks and makes shit up but EVERYBODY from that time period is milking P in one way or another. Hell she was only relevant for 2 years. Who else here checked for Patty since 1986? Sheila I'm sure as most of us know was an in demand drummer/percussionist
before her association with Prince. I'm sure there are Prince crazies here that wanna talk about how she was nothing until the association but I'll leave them to bitch among themselves. I'm a Prince fan myself but I'm not obsessed or crazed with it. As for Patty doesn't she pop up every year around the same time to talk about how close she was to Prince. She couldn't sing a drop even with technology. Most Prince if not all fans loved Vanity 6 far better than the knockoff version.
Sheila E's talent is far better than Appolonia ever was.

Say what you want, but Patty Kotero will forever be known as Apollonia from Purple Rain, and as long as Purple Rain is remembered, so will Patty Kotero/Apollonia be as well. That role attached her to Prince forever! |
