.
This reporter is sto stupid she didn't even fact chek her own article. "Apollonia" herself has stated she NEVER was Prince's "girlfriend" (or a singer for that matter), rather "an actress hired to play the part of a singer in a movie". . . She was either married or engaged during PR as well.
"Following the release of Sheila E.'s "Lemon Cake," a tribute to the late icon Prince, his Purple Rain co-star and onetime girlfriend Apollonia Kotero took to Facebook to call Sheila out in a scathing post."

Funny how Miss Kotero seems to be getting a pass for her not-so-thinly-veiled HOMOPHOBIA (i.e. the "Prince said you're a HeShe!!!") comment. [Edited 4/18/20 9:42am]

- According to an article, Susannah Melvoin agreed with Apollonia too. That´s why I took it more seriously. . . BTW, does anybody know how was Prince´s relationship with Sheila in the 2000s? She performed in some concerts on 20Ten tour, but I dont know how their relationship was after that

Thanks for the update. Billboard needs to do some fact checking to save their own credibility. First they put Apollonia's photo on an article talking about Sheila E making lemon cake ( I guarantee Apollonia was tight about that from the get go...) Girl HATES when she's mistaken in a photo. Trust. She dang near lost her mind at this dude who posted about it in a Facebook group for pointing out to her that a drawing she posted was not her, but Vanity... https://66.media.tumblr.c...9f0544.jpg This is pure foolishness from Billboard too. "Prince's "Purple Rain" co-star & onetime girlfriend takes issue with the drummer's new song "Lemon Cake" in honor of the late pop superstar." Don't everybody know by now that Apollonia was married at the time she did Purple Rain and was never Prince's girlfriend? I bet she won't correct them about that though... . But Sheila is the one claiming it originated with her. Meanwhile LeRoy did it years earlier and there apparently even is a song about this in the vault. © Bart Van Hemelen

I'm going to copy & paste what I put on my Instagram earlier about this. And my sentiments go back on the Org, too. At some point, it just ticked that Sheila was more interested in riding that dead man wave than anything to honor his legacy. I'm not trying to be a hater on anybody. I have been saying this stuff about a certain former Prince associate drummer for YEARS. Apollonia Kotero has the balls to say it out loud and have someone hear her. everybody thinks I'm a hater because I'm not cozying up to every single purple associate. And while I love all of them, the truth is the truth. We can't gaslight ourselves into some false fantasy because of a hypocritical clout chaser wearing a dead man's clothes and jacking his trademark and name.

I believe apollonia on this one.Someone mentioned that we should pay attention to who was around and who wasn't around at the time of prince's passing. From what I ubderstand, sheila e and prince were on bad terms since for a few years but apollonia was invited by prince to paisley park and was even apart of the cover for the "this could b us" single. Sheila's story about being engaged to Prince is looking pretty suspicious now. I wonder if Prince was just Sheila's beard... A certain kind of mellow.

Apollonia isn't wrong.
I find it funny that, when her career was in it's prime, she did nothing but talk about how she had a career before she met Prince and he wasn't responsible for her fame. Yet, after Prince's death, none of the former associated artists have used their connection to Prince more than Sheila.

I have to agree on that too, I am not really interested in her solo work without his input. I think there is something to say of that also because I feel she thinks because she is very well regarded as a musician and by others and even by the fans, it used to be a crime if you said you liked another drummer over her, i told someone I preferred Hannah Welton over her and they went nuts like i killed their dog. I think Shelia honestly felt or feels a bit entitled to have her "say" in these matters, or that she is owed something. I know there was a time when her and Prince were not on good terms at all, and that i believe was up till she performed with him at the show where Obama was in 2009 or something like that but i do remember her mentioning after his death in an interview she and him didnt agree because of his language on records during the 90s and what he was doing. But again that could be because he got married in that time and as Prince said he got married and the phone stopped "ringing" no one (female) kept touch now what we are seeing and hearing now it seems the same petty BS coming from the 80's camp. On the music front I am not a big fan of her work solo a song hear and there even with his input, i think in later years people like Andy Allo and Judith Hill, Prince was diving more into more seasoned artists not that shelia lacks talent she totally has it I just never felt it got anywhere after his input, where as Judith and Andy their work is even better when he was not involved. Sheila E thought she was going to be the head of P's Estate, until she found out differently, and if I remember correctly, she put something on social media saying something to the effect that she is done with it...like who asked her to, anyway?

Tell it. All of them, and I mean ALL OF THEM, stir the pot for drama and at some point or another use his death to their benefits. Look at even Roy and Brenda getting in their feelings over some stupid lemon cake and Susannah jumping on the band wagon backing Roy and stirring the pot like everyone couldn't at some point made the man some lemon cake. They all encourage the in-fighting. All of them.

I don't know what to think other than the source here is ridiculous: Apollonia gets a lot of publicity claiming that Sheila is exploiting Prince and in the same release she refers that people will be able to read more details in her memoirs. Perhaps she shouldn't have slipped up and revealed herself. Not to say Sheila isn't exploiting Prince too. I just don't care for hypocrites.

No, because she's repeating it without calling it out. In effect she's calling Sheila a name but doesn't even the guts to do it herself.

I usually stay away from those scandalous,celebrity-tell all books but I gotta admit....I really wanna read Apollonia's book when it comes out
