Stay on topic, folks! This thread is NOT about Susannah Melvoin or her engagement to Prince!

Eric Leeds wins Lemon Cake-off. That shit brought some much needed levity to this topic.
Somebody is really putting her back into the Prince tie ins, and that schtick gets more absurd by the day. How some yellow cake becomes a song I've definitely heard before is just peculiar. There's a Chappelle joke in there somewhere but I'm feeling lazy. Plus the instructional video on GMA with Betty Crocker fresh out the box?
I'll just focus on the comedy of these grown people carrying on, Purple Rain cast list and all. 2020 is a mess and the folks are ACTING UP.

You did hear that lemon cake song before!! Didn’t you know about the original NC2U lyrics?? They went like this: * It’s been 7 hours and 13 days Since you took your lemon cake away I go out every night and sleep all day Since you took your lemon cake away * 🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋

Have you watched any of the "Hollywood Exes" shows Mayte did back in 2013?? Have you seen any of her old tweets that contain "Priince bashing" remarks/jokes?? Do you know that she attempted to sell may of Prince's personal items (clothing, jewelry, etc) prior to his death? She also had her book all but finished when he died, which is why it was the first released after his death. She would not have even tried to release her book in 2000. as Prince would have had his legal team put a stop to it. Yeah nah, she is far from innocent in the "market your connection to Prince" realm.
The fact that Prince groomed her for marriage from when she was 15 or 16 and she never to my knowledge tried to put dirt on his name by pulling the victim card, and we all know she could have, gives her a pass on doing with her personal memorabilia whatever the eff she chooses. We as fans should be grateful she has never made the conversation about Prince a different one

Hate to break it to you, but when trying to assess the validity of someone making a statement, their ability to communicate COHERENTLY, INTELLIGENTLY and SANELY will be factors that affect the listener's assessment. When one considers the fact that these are artists we're talking about. All of that mumbo-jumbo goes straight out the window. Let's not forget Prince himself oftentimes spoke in metaphors and could subjectively be said to sound like he had a few screws loose at times

Not really. She just agreed that Roy baked him lemon cakes. . . She had to come back and clarify she wasn't supporting the other ridiculous claims Susannah Melvoin definitely engaged with the petty BS too when she came in and egged Apples, Brenda Bennet, and Roy Bennet on by agreeing that Roy Bennet was the first one to make Prince the lemon cake. She should have stayed out of it, but I Doubt Sheila is one of her favorite peeps. [Edited 4/22/20 18:15pm] Why should Susannah feel a way about Sheila in your mind?

We as fans should be grateful she has never made the conversation about Prince a different one Mayte was the FIRST to capitalize off of Prince’s death by publishing her book. She absolutely has created the “I was just an innocent victim” persona regarding her experience with Prince. That may have been the case when she started at PP, however, she chose to stay long after she became an adult and knew how things were. She was also, besides Sheila, one of the first to do the interview circuit immediately following Prince’s death. Then, shortly after, the big auction of his clothes, and then the belly dancing classes where she played Prince’s 80’s hits and sold junk with his symbol on it. * So yeah, she’s in it to win it.

It depends on the mind of the person using it and their personal intent. I've heard plain ol gay males being referenced as a he she as a commentary on the polar opposites of their drives

Okay, that's funny!! Well, Hermaphrodites do exist, so anything is possible. I still take it as more to do with her sexuality (even though "heshe" wouldn't be the term to use for lesbian), because Sheila has always looked feminine. I will say though, I don't really recall any news or information about her dating life or relationships - other than what she's said about Prince back in the 80's.
Some slanging terms are regional as well as generational. Your he/she may not necessarily be your grandmother's he/she. Someone from the West Coast may use the term and interpret it totally different then Some one from the Midwest That's when context comes in to play and ones ability decipher what the orator is attempting to convey. Sex reassignment and the mythical hermaphrodite hadn't yet become a part of our everyday reference points in the purple rain days. In fact, I know plenty of people who referred to Prince himself, aa well as Michael Jackson and Tina Turner as he she's. Let's not forget David Bowie and Rod Stewart( whose allegeded dalliances with all of his male band members one fabled night caused him to end the evening on an emergency room table getting his stomach pumped of their dna)

A term or label can be used in a way that does not meet its “technical” or widely known definition. I think if Prince did use that term to reference Sheila it may very well have been describing her sexual preference - as in bi-sexual or gay.

Either way, IMO that was the most cringeworthy thing in Apple's post. If she was going to rant, she should have stuck to her own thoughts & feelings and not dragged what P may or may not have said into it. I think some of her feelings, whether said in a thoughtless moment or not, are valid. You"re comments are completely subjective and say more about you and where your head is/was. Personally, I see Wendy as looking more masculine back then and now the Sheila ever has.

Furthermore the power of a woman playing drums, electric guitar or bass automatically associates them with a certain 'masculinity' if they're all in and going for the money. Otherwise they're just stunning along for show like, I dunno, say a Susanah Hoff

My opinion on Sheila's masculine appearance is based strictly on her facial features, not body type or what instrument she plays. Hannah plays drums and IMO is very feminine in appearance.
