Well, it helped a young actress named Kristen Scott Thomas gain more recognition and eventually get an Oscar, so there's that.

Talk about UNGRATEFUL! NO ONE would have known who Kristin was without being christened by Prince(r.i.p.). Yet she called the movie a TURKEY & TERRIBLE?! That is SO disrepectful to Prince's(r.i.p.) legacy. If she felt that way she shouldn't have done it.

She would have NEVER said that if Prince(r.i.p.) was still on this earth whom she had so much praise for. Prince(r.i.p.) actually wrote a song about this woman.

People didn't learn about her because of this movie because it flopped and didn't remain long in theaters. Anyway a lot of actors have done things that they said they didn't like. Eddie Murphy has said he did some movies just because they were paying him a lot of money. Singers/bands have also said they have songs or albums they don't like. According to Andrew Ridgeley's book, George Michael doesn't really like Bad Boys by Wham!.

well,she isn't wrong that movie was terrible,lol.Yes,it has some funny scenes and it was kinda cool seeing Prince show a different side of his personality,but the film has many flaws.

You need to read the DMSR book.Even Prince didn't really like this movie When he saw the finished film,he cried,insisting that it didn't turn out the way he intended.

Prince(r.i.p.) was the only superstar Eddie wanted to change places with. So UTCM(a classic) not doing well @ the box office doesn't compare to Eddie still getting millions for a movie he didn't want to do. Eddie's whole life was doing movies. Prince's(r.i.p.)wasn't.

UTCM still produced another number#1 record for Prince(r.i.p.) which awarded him another platinum album. Does Kristen have a #1 record from a movie she called horrible?. She wishes.

The movie was a no for me dawg. Wasn't good. The album was solid though.

She's not wrong. The movie, as Siskel and Ebert put it - is like combining a Fred Astaire movie with a perfume commercial. The acting was horrible, and it was a vanity project (only trumped in its eegad-factor by Graffiti Bridge). Too many plot holes, lot of yammering sometimes. Doesn't mean it's not a fun romp to watch for Prince fans, but Thomas isn't waving it as second behind The English Patient.

I look at it like a art house movie. I've always liked UTCM.

It wasnt terrible - she was great as was Prince. It was camp and clever and the music was amazing. Prince made a fun film here but anything is going to be eclipsed by the juggernaut that was Purple Rain.

When Eddie Murphy's star first started to rise, he did an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. The reporter followed Eddie around, and wrote about it.
Eddie is driving in Manhattan, and pops a cassette into the car player..and Prince(r.i.p.) music starts playing. Eddie tells the reporter.."Listen to this shit..this guy is fucking nasty!!" It was whenever 1999 came out. I believe the song playing was "Little Red Corvette". Eddie said PRINCE(r.i.p.) was the only artist he would trade places with only thing Prince(r.i.p.) was too short. I

I'm a HUGE Eddie Murphy fan he is actually my favorite comedian besides Jay Pharoah whom resembles Eddie. I've been to a few ULTRA privates of his and worked with him.

C'mon folks, it was cool for Prince fans that Prince did another movie after Purple Rain, but as a movie it was not a very good one. Luckily the accompanying album was great!
