Associated Artists Re-Issues

I wonder if the Estate will ever re-issue any of the Associated Artists Projects, w/Bonus Tracks and/or DVD's?? If so, I'm thinking The Time, Vanity 6 & Sheila E. would be a GREAT start!!!

cool

On CD, presumably? They're pretty much all still easy to get on vinyl as far as I know, and two of the Time albums have been reissued in recent years on that format. Coloured reissues of the Jill Jones/Family albums for RSD might be nice, though.

If we're talking CDs, I'm not really sure what extras could or would be included other than 12"/7" edits and live stuff, and is there much of a market for the latter, beyond the hardcore?

The hardcore are a big enough market if staying in black was all that was at stake, unfortunately I'm fairly sure people want to make bank off Prince's legacy, not just respect it for what it is.

Yes those 1981-1987 albums are the ones that fans will know and more intimately connect with Prince

And you won't have to do an "Originals" set that includes them. If I had a say in the released Originals I would not have include the cuts from the proteges(1980s) albums.

The Time, What Time Is It, Ice Cream Castles
Vanity 6
Apollonia 6

The Glamorous Life, Romance 1600, Sheila E

The Family

Mazarati

Jill Jones

Madhouse 8, Madhouse 16

The ones in bold are the ones I would focus on first

Unfortunately, WB still has full ownership of the ones in bold, and possibly also of the ones in italics (I don't know for sure about these three), so that's not something in the hands of the Estate, and the fact that WB wouldn't even bother taking advantage of the hype generated by Originals to at least put V6 and A6 on streaming services seems to suggest that these records are low in their priority list. Madhouse on the other hand... cool

I had high hopes that Prince would try and fight for the WB owned side-projects when the 35 years would have been reached, and for all we know he may have tried and failed in 2014, but IDK if he would have had a chance to succeed, and I know even less whether the Estate does (or cares to bother).

I was listening to Madhouse 8 the oter day and thinking how it and 16 should be rereleased with the non album and remix tracks. And thbe unreleased Madhouse album as well - make a Madhouse box set. I think it woudl be a huge hit in the price community because the CDs have been out of print and so rare for so long (I have both CDs)

I'd love to see Romance 1600 with a disc of all the 12'', bsides & edits plus a DVD of the live VHS release.
