Jesse not credited as a writer on 'Jungle Love' on ASCAP

You can see the ASCAP link here:

https://www.ascap.com/repertory#ace/search/workID/400127886

This means Jesse gets no royalties right? Unfair as hell considering he did the original demo. Everything's there on that demo.

"Leaked Audio Tape"or not, that sh*t ain't right!!! And if this is TRULY the case, Jesse has EVERY right 2 feel the way He does! Prince DID try 2 make it right: He had a "Bag" waiting 4 Jesse. all Jesse had 2 do is go see Him. Prince tried 2 get in touch w/Him b4 He passed. The Funk th3 3 of Them could have Produced 2GETHER (Prince/Morris/Jesse)........ sad sad sad

Led Zeppelin got several songs where they didn't credit the original writer. razz

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Led Zeppelin were straight up thieves no doubt.

That song is brilliant. Prince didn't just screw Jesse over on that, it deprived the world of more collaborations.

Old story. Prince copyrighted Jesse then uncopyrighted him before release, so yeah, he lost a lot of money.

That's pretty much what I thought. But I thought there might be more to it.

Pretty disgusting behavior from Prince. Jesse should have sued Prince. I mean this is the most popular Time song... it's not chump change...

No, Prince didn't try to make it right. Why not give Jesse the credit? Prince could have fixed this at any time. He didn't for 30 years. He didn't care or he was too lazy. I'm surprised Jesse worked with him for Graffitti Bridge. If you want to make things right, you fix the situation.

Personally I could never forgive this type of thing. Jesse's a better man than me.

Prince should have made this right years before. Prince wanted to apologize when he was likely dying and wanted to make things right with those he had been unfair with, (taken advantage of) earlier.

Too little too late for some. I do not blame Jesse for his strong feelings towards Prince.

This doesn't make sense to me that Prince "wanted to make things right".

Look if someone's abusing someone else... then says "I want to make things right" while continuing to abuse them... then that person really doesn't want to make things right.

Prince had the power, time, resources to fix the situation with Jesse. He had 30 years to fix the situation. Words are cheap.

Why would Jesse trust anything Prince says while Prince continues to steal from him? Damn, if you want to make things right, give the guy the credit...

And Prince never made things right... Jesse is still uncredited and still gets squat.

I think he was dying and this changed him; he likely wanted to clear his conscience at the end. IMO he was somewhat empathy-challenged most of his life which helped him succeed; other's feelings (lovers, band members etc) did not have the same impact on him that would on you or I. He could be pretty single- minded and sometimes ruthless. Could be some narcissism.

Empathy Challenged...love it! Sad but true. Prince took care of Prince first.

Most likely to piss off Jesse. I don't remember if Duane's book expands on this or not.

It doesn't really, no. The only reason seems to be because Jesse left the Time and let the project fall apart, although Morris left first and he was still on it...

I mean, we don't know much of what actually went down between the two of them. Maybe Prince handed him a pile of cash at some point as recompense, he had a habit of doing things like that. Not defending Prince here but when Jesse complains about his treatment i've never heard him talk about the royalties from this track shrug

No, I don't know specifically about this song. Just generally about not being paid.

Jesse created the original demo - Prince added additional instruments and a dope hook. Imo this should be a 50/50 publishing split.
