No, Prince didn't try to make it right. Why not give Jesse the credit? Prince could have fixed this at any time. He didn't for 30 years. He didn't care or he was too lazy. I'm surprised Jesse worked with him for Graffitti Bridge. If you want to make things right, you fix the situation.

Personally I could never forgive this type of thing. Jesse's a better man than me.

I think he was dying and this changed him; he likely wanted to clear his conscience at the end. IMO he was somewhat empathy-challenged most of his life which helped him succeed; other's feelings (lovers, band members etc) did not have the same impact on him that would on you or I. He could be pretty single- minded and sometimes ruthless. Could be some narcissism.

I mean, we don't know much of what actually went down between the two of them. Maybe Prince handed him a pile of cash at some point as recompense, he had a habit of doing things like that. Not defending Prince here but when Jesse complains about his treatment i've never heard him talk about the royalties from this track

No, I don't know specifically about this song. Just generally about not being paid.

Jesse created the original demo - Prince added additional instruments and a dope hook. Imo this should be a 50/50 publishing split.
