Anybody got a rundown on all of the band members in the current lineup (sans Morris and Jellybean)?

I don't know the other guys.

Legacy members- Morris, Monte and Jellybean

Did anyone notice during the Jam and Lewis tribute on BET Jesse Johnson was missing

from the tribute and the band performance? Babyface played in place of Jesse.

Jesse participated with them on the Grammys a few years ago after whining on

FB that he wasn't invited.

The other members although I'm pretty sure they still cool with him just don't feel he's

worth the headache anymore.

Jellybean Johnson: He's from East St. Louis and Springfield, Illinois and all that shit. But Jesse is crazy, man. I love him to death, but Jesse is nuts, so, we have a skewed relationship. We have the same last name, people think we're brothers. We're brothers in one way, but we don't get along. We're like estranged brothers—trust me—because he's hard to deal with. He's very hard to deal with, and he's a selfish person. That's his biggest problem. His biggest problem is he wants to be Prince and he's not Prince. He can't be Prince. So that's the whole thing.

Been watching a bunch of Morris interviews lately, the VLAD TV ones are interesting, the Wendy Williams one is a total train wreck, I despised this woman before now she is beyond trash. But Morris is hard to read sometimes because he tends to contradict himself, I think the biggest thing is the payment for doing Purple Rain, Prince made 17 million that year, though I am sure it was probably a bit less, Morris hints that he was paid 50K and how shrewd Prince was to make sure no other songs were on the soundtrack but his, which I get his thinking, I always felt that the album should have been a double, with all the music including b sides, they should have covered that in the Remaster but something is deeper with Prince's Paisley side artists from that time, which is probably why any bad blood always exists from those days. The thing that troubles ME is Morris complaining about the estate not paying him now for songs he was on in some way and being against these recordings coming out saying "Prince would never want this out" which is true, but PRINCE would not want you writing books and also touring now off his name, playing celebrations, etc....NOT one thing since his death Prince would have been for. So we can debate and have bad blood and feel jilted but the person that put you on the map is gone, and had he not put you on the map and also died no one would be looking for you.

There is almost always some form of Morris Day and The Time on the road, doing the club circuits, just like there is a version of Midnight Star, The Bar-Kays, Kool and The Gang, Con Funk Shun, etc. These bands keep on playing. Prince gave them an outlet but they have had to fend for themselves for a very long time. There is nothing wrong with him expressing how he feels when asked his opinions.

He's not some idolworshipping fan. He's an artist that people pay to see. Prince wasn't backstage at thier shows playing their instruments and singing for them. These men travel and perform their songs all on their own just like any other artist.

There were always complaints about pay in the Prince camp. That's no big secret.

Again that is not the point, I didnt say Prince was in the right, he did a lot of that stuff to various people. MY Point is that no one would be calling Shelia and others to be on their shows, had no Prince not put them out there like he did, like it or not his exposure lead to them being known, I mean she was playing Lionel Richie was she getting solo gigs from him?? And he was the biggest guy on the planet too. Its all fine and good for them to express how they feel, that is fine, and I know I have seen Morris play live with various formations of the TIME. But again the popularity was off of his launch into the stratoshpere. Not saying that no one would care about Morris or Shelia or whoever playing a show, but there seems to be a huge double standard, on one hand they complain about the estate releasing music they were involved with, and there is non stop debates who played and who didnt between ALL of them not just with Prince, but no one has a problem with putting out a book and taking in that money, and lets be real, all these photo books and artists prince worked with etc..all putting out pics that they had you know that had he lived he never would have let anyone do any of this, which is more or less what I am saying. Not that anyone is less of a musician or whatever, or Prince screwed them out of money or stole a bass line etc... But the fact that they seem to cherry pick what can come out and Be OK with it and then in the same breath be against something else.

I have my own crazy Jesse Johnson story. I was a freshman at the University of South Carolina

when Jesse toured on his debut solo album. He was on the bill with New Edition, Teena Marie, and Kool & The Gang. Teena Marie didn't appear. Jesse opened the show. Me and my friends were all excited because Jesse was kicking ass with his debut album and the 12 inch Free World was killing it.

Jesse and the band came out and played a 15 minute mix of four songs Can't Let Go, Just Too Much, Let's Have Some Fun, and Be Your Man. After Be Your Man he abruptly left the stage and said I go to go. Me and my friends looked at each other like WTF just happened. The crowd booed his ass loudy. The short show he gave us was tight but WTF. The promoter came out afterwards and said due to Teena Marie no show and the misperformance of Jesse Johnson you can get a refund before the next act come on which was New Edition. I was so fucking disappointed I wanted to leave but me my friends like well we here now we might as well party and enjoy the show. Of course New Edition at that time didn't do nothing for me with their bubble gum music except for Telephone Man and Cool It Now. Bobby had been booted from the group at this time. Kool & The Gang salvaged the night as they had the hot Emergency album out.

There were a lot of fans that night that stated they would never spend a dime to see Jesse perform again. I had a friend who worked for the coliseum setting up the stage for performers and he told me Jesse was pissed because he thought he was worth more than they were paying him so he chose to put on a half ass show. I still supported him buying all his music but I never got to see him perform again. Jellybean was right about him as his selfishness showed throughout both Time reunions and he is the crazy cousin in the family.
