Matt and Lisa: Left and Right

I tried looking for this question, but the search function on this site is nonexistant so...

Does anyone know why Matt and Lisa switched sides of the stage? By the Purple Rain tour, they never moved (Matt: stage right, Lisa: stage left), but between Dirty Mind and 1999, the bootlegs show that they switched sides a bit.

I've never seen any mention of it, ever. Musicians usually pick their spot on stage, then stay there.

Why is it so difficult to upload an avatar?

I asked Jimmy Jam the same as he and Monte did the same on some time songs. He stated it was that due to only having limited equipment their parts required them to switch.

Considering Prince controlled his stage, this is a Prince-related thread, but never underestimate the ignorance of a moderator. I hope someone has insight to the question anyway. SMH.

They actually switched on the Purple Rain tour also, during Baby I'm A Star. Sorry, don't know why either...and I just saw Matt on Friday! err

I think overall (even during the times when they did switch) overall Matt as on the left and Lisa on the right.

I think the more important question is how each of their rigs differed.

.

.

i.e .I think Matt had the Yamaha CP70 Electric Grand early on on the bottom, and I guess an Oberheim on top.

.

.

What did Lisa have below her Oberheim?

.

.

Later tours like Parade era Hit n Run lisa plays the piano part at the end..... acutally i just ried to wath the video and it looks like maybe she moed downstage to a CP70 that Prince was using.

.

.

But who was playing the pianno part during the main part of the song? she seems to have 3 keyboards but none are an electric piano.

I asked Matt Fink about this years ago. They do it during "Baby I'm A Star." If I recall, he said they did it just as a goof. There was no technical reason or whatever. It was just because.

They have different rigs.

Just started wathing the 1999 DVD and it looks like the left rig has the Electric piano (it might be a rhodes not a yamaha cp) so whoever needs to play electric piano will need to be at that rig.

Perfectly reasonable. Makes me wonder why either of them couldn't play what was needed where they stand. But Lisa has a very different approach to piano and harmonies, so it does make sense.

You saw Matt on Friday?! What is he like? (I know this is off-topic, but just a few adjectives?)
