I think it's written from a female perspective of being dissatisified with her male lover: You just come too quick, I'd rather work my stick I don't need you, baby, I'll just work the stick in my ride
If so, I always wondered if this was a guide vocal for Vanity and then P just put it on the Time album, though I doubt it as they performed it live. | |

the come too quick part -sound like something a woman would say
But the rest is definately a man.
Vanity wasn't in the camp in early 1981 I don't think there was any plan, that I've read, of having a female option. I believe these songs were specifically crafted for the Time's freshman album | |

on an album with GREAT SONGS, THE STICK is my favorite jam here. . I always thought (or, at least, I always sing) that 1st line as "girl your body's bad".. . I love the bass line in this song & the killer guitar solo (by Dez??) I'll see you tonight..

yep,it's my favorite song on the album,too.There's something really special about this jam.Both Get it Up and The Stick sounds as if they were originally written for a female. I love the tracks but to this day I get a chuckle and still don't get how the lyrics work for a male vocalist. Morris pulled it off though.
