Rosie Gaines on "Strays of the World"?

I know what it says on Prince Vault, but this has bugged me for a long time. It definitely sounds like her harmonizing on this song - especially right after the first "Strays of the world" in the chorus. A simple and quick "ahh" in her very distinct tone. Anyone else hearing this?

Just listened to it with headphones but no, sorry, I´m not really hearing Rosie Gaines at all. But you could be on to something.

Beautiful song. Always loved it but it still keeps growing on me.

Princevault also says this was recorded at Paisley Park and includes basically the whole stripped down NPG as recording personnel but I vaguely remember Morris Hayes talking about this song in the late 90s and he mentioned how much he liked it when he first listened to an earlier version that Prince had recorded on his own in Paris. I´d love to hear that version and of course the Rock version of Space that Michael Bland mentioned on the org an eternity ago.

This really should have been the closing song on the Come album, as it was planned at some point for one of the many configurations of that album.

I´ve said this a gazillion times and I´ll always say it when this song pops up in discussions. lol

So you're telling me that the harmony vocal you hear at :45 into the song (repeated at every chorus) does not sound like Rosie Gaines? It is driving me insane because that is all I can hear.

I´m just saying that I , personally, can´t really hear it , and I´ve listened to it on headphones several times and still can´t hear it, plus it is one of my favorite songs yet to this day it never even occured to me that her vocals might be buried in the mix. I just don´t hear Rosie here but that does not mean that you are wrong. Maybe she is indeed in the background and I have bad ears.

But no, I don´t hear Rosie here.

Agree. Rosie is pretty distinctive so you'd think we'd hear her.

.

Also, agree the song would have made a great closer as per the earlier configs
