I REALLY wish we could stop demonizing certain of Prince's friends/collaborators. This includes Jesse, Andre, Morris, Kirk et al. Life/relationships are just not black and white, they are nuanced.

There wasn't just one good guy (Prince) with the rest being bad guys.

I also don't want the Org to turn into something like Beyonce's beehive where they attack

mercilessly and often in an uninformed/out-of-context manner.

Yes, Jesse was caught on tape. Have none of us had moments when we say things about our husbands, wives, friends that may be considered unflattering. Does that mean we have to move out of the house or divorce? I am certain that Jesse had some difficult times with Prince.

[Edited 8/20/19 9:13am]

I wanted to clarify that I am referring to his early collaborators where there was likely some

cross-pollination going on. I feel the same way about Kirk, though.

Jesse was REALLY bitter over that. But NONE of this has ANYTHING to do with his ENDLESS talents.

Were you there? I was. Up in the VIP riser with Sharon and other siblings, actually.

If not, I'm not at all interested in your second hand versions of events.

So we have to be there to have an opinion on Jesse, since when?

Good I'm not interested in your opinion either. Just because you fell in love with Jesse doesn't mean we all have to.

Edited to add....Jesse's on tape dissing Prince and saying he would never go to the Celebration. Heard it and heard the vile in Jesse's voice when he was talking on that tape.

[Edited 8/15/19 18:48pm]

People also grow past their pettiness.
Perhaps you should consider the same.

This is my first post here. I recently became intrigued with the Minneapolis artists after reading up on Andre' Cymone. I then remembered Jesse Johnson and didn't realize that he, too, was connected to Prince. I have to say that after reading up on how Prince tended to dog people and jerk his "friends" "brothers" around, I'm not much of a Prince fan. I've never been a hardcore Prince fan to begin with. However, I love his associated acts and bandmates. Of course, Andre and Jesse are my favorites. Morris, who has a superb gift of showmanship, is another all time favorite. I'm just so disappointed in Prince as a person. I don't care how gifted you are, you don't treat people the way he treated them. It needs to be said. I don't want to stir up a hornet's nest. I just want to give a shout out to Andre Cymone and Jesse Johnson. They will always be my favorite to come out of Minneapolis!

Not that I know of. If they do and you have a link, I would appreciate you sharing it.

I like some of Prince's music. I've just never been a diehard fan.

Thanks for responding.

👏🏽 Bravo. Funny how folks think because we are not #TeamJesse we have to stop with our opinions...Nope, we will not! Prince is not here to defend himself. I refuse to take Jesse's side as truth. That is with anyone.2 sides, 3 sides to a story.

Jealous or not, quitting a band via Facebook is juvenile at best.

Regardless of what anyone thinks (and sure, everyone is free to have an opinion.... even if it's uninformed) the title of the thread is ridiculous.

Because if you know the dude - like I do - you know he doesn't have a jealous bone in his body. JJ would be the first to tell you he's not perfect and has flaws like everyone else but jealousy ain't one of them.

If anything, Prince was the one endlessly trying to control the narrative of people who weren't even in his camp anymore - whether that's Jesse, Jam & Lewis, St Paul, or whoever else. Let's not play like he didn't use his position to throw his weight around in the music business. Anyone who knows anything about the music business knows that.

I love Prince more than any other musician but you can't be afraid of the truth.
