Yes, Jesse was caught on tape. Have none of us had moments when we say things about our husbands, wives, friends that may be considered unflattering. Does that mean we have to move out of the house or divorce? I am certain that Jesse had some difficult times with Prince.

I wanted to clarify that I am referring to his early collaborators where there was likely some

cross-pollination going on. I feel the same way about Kirk, though.

Edited to add....Jesse's on tape dissing Prince and saying he would never go to the Celebration. Heard it and heard the vile in Jesse's voice when he was talking on that tape.

This is my first post here. I recently became intrigued with the Minneapolis artists after reading up on Andre' Cymone. I then remembered Jesse Johnson and didn't realize that he, too, was connected to Prince. Regardless of what anyone thinks (and sure, everyone is free to have an opinion.... even if it's uninformed) the title of the thread is ridiculous.


Because if you know the dude - like I do - you know he doesn't have a jealous bone in his body. JJ would be the first to tell you he's not perfect and has flaws like everyone else but jealousy ain't one of them.

If anything, Prince was the one endlessly trying to control the narrative of people who weren't even in his camp anymore - whether that's Jesse, Jam & Lewis, St Paul, or whoever else. Let's not play like he didn't use his position to throw his weight around in the music business. Anyone who knows anything about the music business knows that.


I love Prince more than any other musician but you can't be afraid of the truth.
