Why? | |

Why not? They were Prince's band during his peak in the 80's, and acted/played alongside the man in his most famous movie (partially set at First Avenue). I'd say they deserve a star on the wall as much as Nirvana or INXS or anyone else with a tenuous tie to the venue.

If so shouldn’t it say Prince & The Revolution? Paisley Park is in your heart

They replaced Rage Against the Machine, hahaha!

I think it would be a bit redundant, seeing as Prince already has the biggest star (rightfully so) in another color, and it's right next to the new star for The Revolution. Good enough.

I only ask because the band never released an album just as “The Revolution”. I could say having The Revolution up there is redundant because Prince is already there. Paisley Park is in your heart

Except when he was with the band he wasn’t just “Prince”. It was “Prince and The Revolution”. The band was always listed and recognized. All of their releases have that title, and they were always announced that way during shows. So, since Prince is already there I think the way they displayed it makes sense.

the star is place next to underneath Prince's star. The Revolution Prince's band are iconic when it comes to First Avenue. They perform there too

Sure and he has a couple albums that are Prince and the New Power Generation. I just thought it was assumed the Prince star covered his entire career including The Revolution, NPG and 3EG. But there were mutliple incarnations of the NPG. Only one of The Revolution.

Definately
But the noituloveRevolution are known and connected with First Avenue. The NPG nor 3rd Eye Girl are not. I don't think 3rd Eye Girl every played First Avenue . Once Prince created 'Glam Slam' and built Paisley Park, I don't know if he ever played First Avenue again. (I know of the after show 7.7.07) but I don't know of other times. He attended shows.
. The Revolution still represent Prince and that 1978-1986 period was lived out loud at First Avenue. So those people in the band have a strong connection with First Avenue. . First Avenue owners obviously are paying respect to that.

Much of his blockbuster film, which is what catapulted him into the rockstar stratosphere was filmed at First Avenue with The Revolution.

definitely.
Even the black n white floor used on the Parade/Romance 1600 shows represent First Avenue

Didn't the NPG play there too? Are they getting a star too? Just weird to me.

It's more than just them playing there in recent years. It's the history of the club and The Revolution. C'mon people!! I just don't see how it's so hard to justify

Clearly he's a die-hard for being authentic and nostalgic Bobby looks great though. So glad he fully recovered from the heart attack.

Anyone who asks why The Revolution is getting a star at First Ave and not NPG etc. is just starting trouble or really stupid. Sorry.

I’m saying having a Prince and a Revolution star is duplicative. The Prince star encompasses his entire career, including when it was Prince and The Revolution. Maybe I’d feel differently if The Revolution had a body of work outside of Prince that they were famous for. FYI, I felt the same way when the E Street band was induced into the RRHOF. I know nothing about First Ave so try not to jump all over me for asking the question: are the stars paid for by the represented artists or does First Ave just decide who to put up there? ETA: I can't see P paying for one so I'd think not paid but I really don't know for sure. [Edited 4/30/19 6:58am] Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end

I can't see the Revolution getting in the RRHOF but, in all honesty, Purple Rain is the reason 99% of the world has even heard of First Avenue so I think they've earned a separate star on this specific building; The Time as well. Krantz says there’s a committee of people who decide should make the wall. There’s only one hard rule: An artist had to perform at First Avenue. They are such sticklers to this rule that First Avenue removed Adele’s star in 2011 after she canceled her show due to voice issues. The committee then asks whether the artist(s) sold out the room. “You know, there’s relationships with bands,” says Krantz. “Historical significance comes into play.”
