The Birth of a life is a beginning, a new beginning, a time to celebrate, a time to look ahead at all the positive possibilities. It’s a beautiful thing, like the opening of an unread book or the first note of your first concert.
The hope for a positive experience lie in front of you.
So I believe the time to celebrate the life of a special person is not to celebrate their closing but their opening, the genesis, especially a life so full of energy and productivity. For a life that brought so much joy to so many, to celebrate the end of such a life seems far too negative.
A funeral is a representation of the end and is usually a somber sad affair but the birth is representative of joy and the celebration of what has been and perhaps what will continue to be.

Though it may be a great time for some to celebrate, especially for those who can benefit from the void of recrimination like in the Wizard of Oz. Oh how they celebrated when the Wicked Witch was dead. It lifted a cloud of darkness and opened up opportunities and a whole new way of life for those she held under her long black cloak but Prince was not a Witch and this is not Oz. He was an artist who created HIS music and if you had a problem with how you came to be recognized or not, the time to stand up and address that problem would have been when he was alive. THAT, would have been the time to fight for your place in his creative output, to confront him while he could quite capably fight back, but to wait and lay in the cut for him to die and then step out of the shadows and begin to change or rewrite history simply because he is now gone and there is virtually no one standing in your way to challenge is in my view reprehensible.
I had assumed his fans would see through this and speak out but to this point it seems they do not and are ready to embrace any claim by anyone who can prove they stood in the same room. It’s a shame.

Either way I believe to remember and celebrate the life of an artist so profound and truly special as Prince, it is far more appropriate to celebrate the day of his birth.

I just read it. Thank you Andre! I agree with everything he said.

Some of us fans do speak out against those people, and when we do, we catch hell from other the other fans.

He’s right, a Birthday is much more relevant.
And prince really was special.
You can see in this photo, too, that he really was a businessman.
And he obviously felt safe with Andre.
What a nice group of young people.

Andre said at least twice in the comments that he wasn't talking about Jesse...but given his wife's tweets and what Andre did say, it's clear he's at least referring to Chazz and probably other family members who were at the MN Historical event as well as other associates who have been taking advantage of the fans. There seems to be no love lost between the two men, but I for one am very happy that he put this out there. I think celebrating his death date is creepy and wrong. Just because Prince said he'd celebrate that day, didn't mean he thought the rest of us should, and I sure as hell don't, that date brought more sadness to my life than almost any other. Cuz wants to make sure he's seen and heard, he's thirsty as fuck for fame and validation. Dude needs to have several seats. I sure do hope other family members stay far away from his behavior, but so many are trying to make coins off Prince that I won't be surprised if others want in on the action. It's thoroughly disgusting behavior, especially from family members, no matter how far removed.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

Well.....there are 364 other days in a year that they could be doing that rather than on the day he passed. I still think it's messed up and wrong to do it on that day.

Who´s the girl standing between Jill Jones and André ? Is that Kim Upsher?

I agree with what André said but I´m surprised that Jesse is not one of those people he´s referring to.

Yes he did clarify that he's not talking about Jesse, but does anybody find it weird that non of prince's siblings are invited to these events?? I find it disgusting how the cousins are rewriting prince and tyka's childhood by saying "NO ONE WAS ABANDONED" tyka and Omarr are the only ones who can say yay or nay on the subject. I'm so glad that Andre is speaking out on his friends behalf

Do we know for sure that they weren't invited? I don't know for a fact but I've kind of thought that they are keeping things at a minimum until probate is over. They probably don't need the fuss that will come from fans (mainly, lots of questions) that would no doubt occur. I've also thought they may not be at liberty to really speak about much of anything at this point.

I know others are concerned about where the heirs are and why they aren't saying more, but I am not.
