So Apples trademarked Appollonia 6? Now the Estate wants it back and has filed papers with the Trade Board to cancel her trademark.

Yes it doesn't add up. She claims P gave her the trademark, yet she didn't apply for it until 2017. I find it hard to believe that P would just give it away when he disallowed The Family etc. to use their name. And why wouldn't the trademark be split 3 ways between Apple's, Brenda and Susan? Yep. He died in 2016. I don't believe her and hope the Estate gets it back.

Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

She would need to produce something in writing from Prince, but it is doubtful that happened, as he detested any type of written agreement. * I agree that he would not have excluded Brenda and Susan. They were there before Apollonia - when she was still known as Patricia or Patty

I was just thinking......Apollonia, even more than Prince, has Denise Matthews to thank for her participation in Purple Rain, and her career. Had Vanity stayed to do the film there would be no "Apollonia" and we would most likely never have known the name Patricia Kotero. She played her part very well in the film, and contributed to its success - although most of the credit goes to Morris, Prince and the band members - but the reality is there would be no Apollonia if it were not for Vanity's decision to leave the film. So, Vanity was "the original" along with Brenda and Susan. Apolllonia was born out of the necessity to find another lead to replace Vanity. * The song Sex Shooter was originally recorded for Vanity 6 prior to Vanity quitting the film. I'm sure most of us here have heard Vanity's version, and it's pretty good - very good actually. So, Sex Shooter was NOT originally Apollonia's song - she inherited the song, so to speak. * Also, I'm not sure why Jill coined herself one of the "originals"??? In terms of his female associates, Gayle Chapman would be the true "original", as she was the first female band member and associate to work with Prince. Susan Moonsie and Brenda would be next. Then Lisa Coleman arrived in 1980. Jill arrived after them. * The record title "Originals" represents Prince's first recordings of the songs before he gave them to other people, and has nothing to do with Jill's post, so I'm not sure why Apollonia referenced it with regard to the record.

I think that any of the women that were with him during or prior to Purple Rain are "the originals" in my head. They were with him before he was an Almighty A lister, before it was clear that he would retain legend status for some time to come. Then came under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge, Sign of the Times and Diamonds and Pearls; the woman who entered his life then would be my second group. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Yes, if you look at it by âpre and postâ PR fame then Susan, Brenda, Vanity, Jill, Sheila, Wendy, Lisa, Susannah and Appolonia would all be considered the âoriginalâ women. I was looking more at his first female protĂ©gĂ©s which were Susan, Brenda and Vanity, who were there in 1981 and early 1982. Jill had met and was âhanging outâ with Prince (in LA) in early 1982, but did not officially join the camp until Summer of 1982, and then Appolonia arrived September of 1983 after Vanity left.

I hear you. I don't know how many groups that there are, now that I think about it. Susan and Brenda were definitely part of his early sound. Vanity seemed to go a bit further and blended in with Jill. Robin was not around with Susannah as far as I know but others were. I have a feeling that the woman before Susannah knew the man as he was verses how he wanted to be seen. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

We know of Nadeara (love love love the audio of that âmockâ radio interview they did when his first album was released), and Mi-Ling was in the mix too. Although, if Prince dated Kim while he was still in high school, which is the common story, then that would have been the â76-â77 period. * I was focusing on the girls who became his protĂ©gĂ©s and/or associates.
