Leadline was being sarcastic. I said he did not look well - not at all “horrible”, because he never looked horrible. I meant he was not looking healthy. Anyone who states that something did not look “off” physically with Prince by 2013 is just sugarcoating the situation. The decline was much more evident by 2015-16, but the signs were there prior to that time.

Thank you for pointing out the sarcasm in my post violetcrush......I don't know, I have to disagree with you here, I personally think he looked great right up to his passing. Maybe I am just seeing what I want to see, I don't know, but that is what I see. Most people around him during those years also did not notice an appearance change.

To me the pic I posted looks like Prince as usual, he looks like he is in his 30's here, and he has always been skinny, very skinny.

We will just have to agree to disagree.....I respect your post and viewpoint on all this.

There are no checks and balances with the memoirs, if you think it is going be filled with facts, you are more niave than i thought.

Losing muscle definition is what happens when you are almost pushin' 60. Look at his arms in the 2013 Montreaux concert series, no real definition at all, which is absolutely not out of the ordinary for his age.

Though it’s been stated by the publisher that Prince only made it through his childhood years with his own writing. The rest up and through Purple Rain has been pieced together by the publisher - I’m guessing by using his words in interviews. However, we know Prince was not always honest during interviews. So, the expectations are not high for learning new information beyond his childhood years.

Yep. I think the tally was 2500-3000 words he did, not much at all, and you know they will take liberties, it's the nature of the beast unfortunately.

and yet in 2014 he was looking great at those UK shows, one of my main takeaways at the time were how he looked so good physically, he had muscles.

He certainly looked frailer only 6 months later but I never saw him "in person" again, so to speak, so at the time I put it down to them just being internet photos.

Nah...not with the more important songs. I don't think anyone other than Susannah has claimed to be at least part of the inspiration for that song - I actually think she is most of the inspiration - because it is a straight-up love song, and a very heartfelt love song which is how he always performed it too. I mean, when you lay yourself down on a giant red heart reclining backward (Nude tour) at the end of the song - you're singing about more than just missing your housekeeper

He also, in a very rare moment (1997 AOL online interview), divulged that Forever In My Life was written for Susannah. That was quite shocking, because he NEVER did that - other than the songs that were obviously written about his marriage and baby.

No question though, he most likely "multi-tasked" when it came to some songs and the women. We know that, even though TMBGITW had been connected to Mayte, Carmen E posted a card written to her (at the time the song was released) by Prince stating, "to the most beautiful girl in the world..". More than likely, that song was written with another woman in mind, but we'll probably never know for sure. There are only a handful of songs in which he gave the specific person/people who inspired him to write it. For the rest we have only the lyrics - sometimes more obvious, but mostly cryptic - to try to make a connection.

The funny thing is later years with Judith Hill and Andy Allo and even Brooke, people labelled them girlfriends, I think Prince by this time may have had women around him, but he was not doing anything with them, I think a lot of that stopped in Manuela days. By the vying for position is SO true and its all from those days, there is a lot of "issues" in the early era.

Those close to him noticed changes, Lisa Coleman talks of seeing him and thinking somehting is not right, his eyes did not have that LOOK anymore and also when she hugged him she felt he was so thin not normally thin but more than usual. Yes he was getting older, but if you look between 2012 and then 2014,2015 very different.

Yes I agree - subtle changes in 2012-2013, but a quicker decline 2014 onward.

Yes i agree, once he stopped the shows with 3rd Eye Girl, and then there was a gap and then he was doing Piano and Mic and it was just him, I always felt that was on purpose so no one was around to notice or question it.

Yet he was around people all the time at paisley, getting black is the new black together, among other things. The only isolation he had was the show itself, I think folks are possibly reading a little too much into this.

I am with you. He looked very healthy during his time with the twinz and Bria. After 2010 he slowly went down hill aging faster in those 6 years theb he had previously. He was extremely thin. Lucky for him there are plent of women who love the super thin, could be a man, could be an older woman with a lot of facial hair look.

He was always small, but still had “meat” on his bones. Yes, by 2011 his appearance was changing - first in the face and then with the weight loss. He started wearing layered and loose clothing. He always looked “put together”, but at a certain point the outfits could not hide the changes.

The women in his life looked less pulled together also, or should I say "more of a relaxed style". Weirdly I believe that before 2011 he influenced and even dictated what his protege's wore. After 20ten I feel like the women in his life effected him more.
