Prince was planning an Apollonia 6 movie before he died??? I just find that extremely hard to believe. The women are 60 now. So, was it going to be “Apollonia 6 at the Shady Acres concert hall?? Sorry, but come on!! Prince wouldn’t even do a reunion show with The Revolution, yet he was ready to make an Apollonia 6 movie??

nod smile

Maybe she misunderstood and Prince said he had an Apollonia 6 movie idea that was laying in the Vault on some notebook?

Or perhaps Prince was planning to finally finish the 1985 “mini movie” that Apollonia 6 worked on (featuring videos from their album)? To be included as a bonus DVD in a Apollonia 6 remaster? hmmm

Nah, I just don’t see that happening. That film is so dated now. Prince was always trying to find a new thing - sound, style, etc. Plus, I really think he knew he didn’t have much more time here.

I'm glad she mentioned she had severe depression. I could tell something was off. Now, I'm sorry to say but I don't believe a word she is saying. Prince had plans, many plans but I doubt there were with ...Appolonia. He had mentionned plans with 3rd eye, with Judith Hill, with Welton, and many young musicians he was fond of mentoring and they were evolving and took pleasure in seeing them grow.

Apples is the past and she has to move on before her depression turns to delusion if it hasn't already.

That said, I look forward to Prince's memoir in October. I think this one will sell fast and well. The only Truth is his. Nobody speaking on his behalf has any right to claim owning his Truth.

Yep. I think the problem is she is not and never was a musician. She was a young actor hired to make a movie and after the movie was over Prince tried to make her into a musician with not much success. So amongst all the hundreds of musicians that worked with him through the years, she was only acting like one (couldn’t really dance either).

Yes, she was never a singer or performer. She was a model and trying to make it as an actress when she landed the role in PR. Lisa, Jill and Susannah all helped with adding vocals on the A6 record. Brenda was the only strong singer in that trio. I think Blue Limousine is the best song on the record and that was Brenda and Susannah.
*
That being said, she saved the PR film. They found her at the 11th hour, and I think she did well with her character and she gave a campy and fun vibe to contrast the more serious and dark family scenes with Prince. She also spent a lot of time with Prince from Sept ‘83 - ‘85, and they remained friends.
*
So, she is significant for that time period in the Prince camp.

Her rhythm is off in several occasions. She can't hear the music and marches on her own drums... literally.

Is it sexism? Seems like the women get called liars a lot around here. I don't think y'all understand how Prince works. One on one he HAS to be the center of your universe basicaly. He craves YOUR attention. I think he did everything she says he did. It would be UNLIKE him otherwise. And yeah PR2 was in the offing (vets and upstarts alike). It's connected to the autobiography which started out as a plan for a movie. The idea was to give Prince a creative and financial channel while easing his health issues and hopefully getting him to seek some genuine medical care before it was too late. I posted about it at the time.

Yes, that is what I essentially posted - she was never a singer or dancer - she was a model trying to make it as an actress. She was pushed into the “singer/performer” role by Prince, and the storyline of PR. Vanity wasn’t a singer either, but she had more rhythm - she could find the beat smile

Somehow I dont think this is correct. There seems to be ALOT of "half truths" and things coming from that ERA of Prince, I dont really know what to believe. I tend to listen to Morris Hayes when I want to hear about Prince, the stories coming from the earlier days, and mainly "female" relations seem to be often about calling out others when making their case. Hence "I dont want to be one of the herd"?

Morris Hayes was not with Prince in the 80’s, so he can not provide information about Prince during that time. It’s not just the females who have been sharing stories - many non-female friends/associates have talked about that time period - Bobby Z, Matt Fink, Mark Brown, Eric Leeds, Alan Leeds, Hans Martin Buff, etc.
*
I think the interest in some of the female stories - such as Susannah, who had a working and personal relationship with him - is that we get a glimpse of Prince “behind the scenes” and off the stage. I think it is fascinating and enjoy hearing about the “real guy”.

I didn’t say Morris had info or could give info to those days, my thing is that the bitterness that has come at times always stems from those during those days. Morris was with prince longer than anyone, his time with him being from 89/90 through to 2012 as Morris said after that they spoke hear and there, but Prince was moving in other band directions. Morris was also part of the toughest era the symbol name change slave days. Stories coming from Morris and others in that NPG trio also have a great insight to him off the stage.

Yes, Morris was with Prince through the 90’s, left for awhile during his heavy JW period (which he confirmed) and then played with Prince again during the 2009-2012 period. They were friends and of course he has insight on some of the personal side of Prince. However, so so many of those who were part of his camp during his rise to super stardom. Bobby Z is one of his oldest friends and they never lost touch. Wendy and Lisa saw him and played with him throughout the years. In 2007 Wendy performed with Prince at his concert in MN, and he introduced her as one of his best friends. Prince also stayed in touch with Susannah until the end. I don’t think any of them are being “bitter” about their time with Prince - they are just being honest about how it was to have a working and/or personal relationship with him - both the good and the bad, which I appreciate because it provides more insight into who he really was.

If it wasn't for Vanity's funeral it would have been years since they kept in touch. So to state that he kept in touch with Susannah until the end, isn't really an accurate statement...Susannahs phone number or emails weren't in any of the records. Susannah did borrow $$ from Prince, but we don't know how old that debt was. I'm also inclined to believe that it wasn't Prince who personally reached out to these people, but rather someone on his staff.

The only issue I have is that the way she worded

this makes it sound like they were working on it solidly from 2014 to 2016..

Its as if she is trying to keep herself very relevant by the inference...

It just sounds inauthentic to me...

Wendy, Lisa and Susannah remained in contact with Prince through the years after they left the camp. Susannah has confirmed she continued to see Prince long after she moved back to LA - most likely until 1991 when she began a serious relationship with John Cusack. She also confirmed that a year or so before Prince died Bobby Z called her to let her know that Prince was looking for her, because he had heard about her financial struggles. The media was covering her court case with her Ex. Prior to this Susannah had not spoken to Prince due to an argument they had when he called her to discuss the new record for The Family and using the name. Susannah has confirmed she saw and spoke to Prince often during the early 2000’s. Wendy and Lisa also occasionally performed with him during that time.
*
Regarding the A6 women - Brenda, in an interview she did after Prince passed, talked about going to his concert on the Musicology tour with Susan Moonsie, who was visiting her from Trinidad. Prince brought them back stage and then had a Limo pick them up the next night so she could bring her 10 yr old Son. Prince also had Apollonia on stage with him during his first Gala show Jan 2016, a month prior to Vanity’s unexpected passing. So, with possibly the exception of Jill Jones, it was not her funeral that brought them back together.
*
Regardless of what some may think they know about who Prince kept in touch with it has become clear that he cared for these people who were with him in the beginning and he stayed in touch with them regardless of any stretches of time in between seeing or talking to them.

According to Militant's post #3

Prince attended a private memorial for Vanity after her funeral, where he reconnected with Jill Jones, Susan Moonsie, Brenda Bennett and Apollonia.

By all accounts this was his first time seeing Susan and Jill in over 20 years.

He also invited Morris Day and The Time to play at Paisley earlier this year.

From this thread: https://prince.org/msg/5/446297?pr

According to OF4$ post 48

Yes, Prince connected with them after Denises' memorial.

I believe it was Brenda & Susan. I have a few pictures of them.

But I mean between 1990-2016 JJ & Prince at least did not.
I believe Apollonia & Prince continued communication.

Susan Moonsie & Brenda remained really close. And they went to a few Prince show during the 3121 period.

Yeah, I think SADLY again, that if it wasn't for the back 2 back deaths of Kim & Denise, Prince might not have opened up. And his health scare helped promt it.

I love that Prince devoted so much time to Brenda’s Son Dillon after the second show. Also love hearing how happy and excited he was to see them and he set them up in style.

Again, proof positive that Prince, while he may have always had that “security fortress” around him, he still cared for and wanted to see many from his past - especially those from that magical PR time period.

https://youtu.be/Kvty4s0u0LY * Please copy and paste the YT link above to listen to Brenda Bennett discuss her and Susan reuniting with Prince when they attended his Musicology show in Boston, which would have been in 2004. * Great interview, and it was prior to Prince’s death. I like Brenda - she’s smart and interesting.
I love that Prince devoted so much time to Brenda’s Son Dillon after the second show. Also love hearing how happy and excited he was to see them and he set them up in style. * Again, proof positive that Prince, while he may have always had that “security fortress” around him, he still cared for and wanted to see many from his past - especially those from that magical PR time period.

I think he enjoyed seeing their kids, but it may have been bittersweet for him. It seems he always took an interest in all of them.

Yes, it's an extremely sad situation. He clearly really wanted his own children, and it's so sad that he was never able to have and raise his own. I think he would have tried to be the Father that he seemed to wish he had as a younger child. He did state (at his first Gala event) that his Father was his best friend, but their relationship seemed to evolve and improve only after he became famous, which is also a sad thing. Parents need to be nurturing and loving from the beginning in order to create that bond and also an emotionally secure child. Susannah stated that whenever she would see him he would ask to see pictures of her two girls and his eyes would get "all sparkly" when he looked at them, but I do wonder if it was more that his eyes were "watery" due to the sadness of his desire to have children sad

Maybe Apollonia was referring to the unreleased Apollonia 6 movie that they made in 1985, not a new movie. Prince cud have been planning to finally release that project. I hope that she does write a biography or she cud get sum1 2 help her write a book. I wud definately buy it. Disappointed to see so many negative posts on this thread. I don't buy much of what Apples has said about this. Perhaps they were in contact, but other than that, I just don't believe any of it. If I'm wrong, then I guess time will tell and I will own up to my mistake, but for now......No. By the way, I smell a book neutral

And these plans started with This Could Be Us song and her invite to paisley where Prince performed while she was on stage with him.

From https://blog.thecurrent.o...th-prince/

She previously described their meeting, which included a performance by Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL; now, she has shared additional details.

“On June 28th, 2014, at your home at Paisley Park, I told you when you love someone so much for so long, you become as one. As we have. I gave you a bejeweled gold crown charm I bought for you at Kensington Palace. […] We kissed. We both had tears. I leaned my head on your shoulder. You celebrated us that night. Our 30th Anniversary.”

After a performance that “made me feel like Charlie Bucket” in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, Apollonia writes, “We spoke about family, love, music, and the future. Deep discussions. How we are family. 33 years now. You wrote another song about us, you proudly tell me. You show me the meme ‘This Could Be Us.’ Your happy face lit up. I gushed as always. I kiss you again. The plans you share with me take my breath away. You are so gracious.”

Looks to me like they were in contact. I believe this short performance was even streamed on livestream at the time.

When Apollonia wrote 'You celebrated us that night' I think that means that she and Prince made love. That is what she is tryin 2 say. She has loved him since Purple Rain. The romantic in me has always wanted them 2 get 2gether yes

Oh come on!!! No way they slept together. I think he was probably celibate by that point anyway. He had already been looking unwell. If she and Prince were going to sleep together it would have happened during the PR time frame. She was married and also fooling around with David Lee Roth. Seems Prince probably was not her physical “type” but I think it’s great that they had a friendship. Prince got a bit of action with her during the filming of PR though biggrin One of these days we may see the (supposedly) very sexy shower and barn scenes which were cut due to Prince appearing visibly uncomfortable per the Director. smile
