Jesse Johnson attacking Prince and Paisley Park Celebration THE VIDEO

We didn’t get to hear the video because it was taken down the same day. It has resurfaced. For those who want to hear it with your own two ears here it is.

Jesse is talking about his Bunker shows from 2017 so it is clearly from late 2017 to 2018. It does not matter how this was recorded he is clear in his words expressing how he really feels about Prince. And that he doesn’t want anything to do with that "Celebration bs" as he puts it. He also says he does not want anything to do with Prince sh*t, to be under that banner. But a year later he is headlining Celebration 2019 in Prince’s home.

Yeah. Jesse's always been the problem child, albeit a talented one. Every single band has one among them, even down to boy bands or girl groups. There's always that one person who just can't be happy, and wants to shit on folks.

That said, it's clear Jesse loves Prince. But Jesse is the troubled soul, angsty, never really happy it seems. He's following the money, which - a brotha's gotta eat. He also has a right to say what he wants. But the Celebration folks look sorta stupid for asking him to perform or come around after his rants in the past couple of years.

It doesn’t matter to you how it was recorded but it matters to me, and I wish Jesse would talk about it.

Whoever recorded this should be proud of the backlash against Jesse since that was the reason for putting it out there. They need to quit with the cowardice and take their holier than thou stance public. They want to smear Jesse at least have the decency to appear righteous instead of looking like a nobody who’s got a grudge against Jesse.

Nobody's smearing Jesse except Jesse himself. These are HIS words. No one put those words he used against Prince in his mouth. I'm glad fans know his true feelings instead of him making a buck off of Prince's death meanwhile harboring such disdain and smiling in Prince fans faces at the celebration. If he feels this way about him, move along. He's not needed there.

Living your truths, warts and all, takes away the weaknesses that will eventually destroy your soul. It’s a new day, feelings and outlooks of the past don’t represent where and what I am today.
I am very honored and happy to be participating in this year’s Celebration 2019, and out of respect to the Prince Estate, family, friends and the fans... Let me really explain the unfortunate illegally taped posting of a private personal conversation.
I have always tried to draw a (thin yet visible) line between my public and private existence and have avoided people or situations that are toxic. I have personally experienced the ups and downs of this business and diplomatically in public forums have tried to convey my experiences – my story is not Photoshop.
I will share a few stories... A few insights.
My father begged me for years to come visit him and I would not. He had remarried (that persona was not good to him – so I stayed away as to not witness it). I told him” Pop, I will fly you anywhere I am” – he would not hear of it. My father had never flown in his life. When I was told he was deathly ill, I’d ask him if he was sick and he’d tell me no I’m fine. Well he died Thanksgiving Day 2010, and it haunts me to this day that my visiting him would have made his life. He loved me very much and was very, very, proud of me too. In essence I ghosted him, when I should have been in his life. After all, my father never tried to deny me nor block me from achieving my dreams.
Stories are often misrepresented, and yet this is the part of the business I signed for (perhaps unknowingly), but just know when you buy the records, go to shows and such, you can’t rewrite or dismiss one’s story or feelings when it comes to their personal experiences.
The dynamic of Prince and my relationship was that of brothers – we were family. I lived with him, we did not always see eye to eye like in a lot of relationships (mother and son, husband and wife, sister and brother), but at the end of the day there has always been admiration and respect.
The people I truly loved as family were Prince & Morris. I didn’t know the other band members very well when The Time formed.
I have gone through some things, of course; I suspect we all have with our own families and jobs behind closed doors. But even more so, similar with my dad, I am definitely angry at myself for not calling Prince back when he reached out to me in 2016 (I was in Wellington, NZ rehearsing with D’Angelo) – Denise Matthews (Vanity) had just died a week before that trip. It was all too much for me.

I never called, I never spoke to him. Now I’ll never have that opportunity again...my loss forever.
These days I find myself having a really hard time with friends dying and me knowing I had not spoken to them. I have lost so many friends in 2016-17-18. It was like a gold rush on death.
Regarding my performing in Prince’s house: Celebration 2019
The first time I was in Paisley Park, Prince ran up to me and whispered “Man I’m glad someone else is here that can dress. He showed me all around his building, it was amazing and I told him he did a great job. He was most proud of his sound stage and stated if he had $10 -11million more he could have made the ceiling move like Francis Ford Copolla’s Zoetrope Studios.
So, here’s hoping this time around - I can somehow return his phone call to me and speak to him and through the music and deliver a very solid, exciting, heartfelt performance to the town that launched us all.

Well there’s always that one person who starts fires then runs, be it in an office or a group of friends, and they always seem to be the pathetic one who thinks they’re working harder than everyone else. Whoever recorded it might have egged Jesse on just to get back at him for petty reasons. I guess you can take a stand against Jesse and boycott the celebration, but I would like to have all the info.
This behavior is cowardly.

That fool who recorded Jesse is a coward who recorded him yet refused to reveal himself or what was the purpose?

We all said some shady shit privately. I am sure the siblings might had said some bad stuff about Prince behind close doors too. Tyka said in her post-death interviews she no longer care about seeking answers to Prince's death and other shade comments. And Brownmark said in 2017 interview that his death was karmatic. And Andre was shading Prince too and sound resentment in some interviews after P died. I am sure other associates might had said crap about Prince and how they felt he treated them but Jesse's comments happen to be recorded.

I think he should continue to be invited to Celebration unless he does something that can warrant a ban. If Jesse should be disinvited then others should be as well. The difference was Jesse got caught red handed. I am seeing some posters on this thread was highly criticial of Prince when he was alive and I am not going to name those names.

So enough with the sanctimonious act on here.

We can say and do as we please about this. To talk shit about Prince and talk shit about taking part in any specific events HONORING Prince, then turning around and doing it clearly says he is in it for the money. As another said, old friends for sale. I haven't heard ANYTHING like this from any other person associated with Prince but if I had, I'd drag that ass just as hard. Hypocrits deserve to be outed. Someone clearly thought people should know because not everyone did know.

I would love to be there and see what they say and listen to the stories, but FFS if none of them want to do it, then don't.

I tell you who I would like to see all together and that would be the women, Jill, Apples, Carmen, Mayte, Mani, Judith, Andy, Kim Basinger now to have them all together at 1 time, would be fireworks. biggrin I would also like to hear stories from Rosie.
