Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end

I wanted to go to this but it seems to be sold out. I just want to see the authors (earlier in the day); wonder if there is a way to just do that. (currently says ticketholders only)

Way cool that they will have an authors event I would like to be there. In regards to her book and others, we all know books will be written and written for years. And they should be, some of these people had a unique experience knowing Prince closely and working with Prince. It is their story to share and their time to do it. Prince is at peace now and doesnt care about these mundane issues boggling us humans down as far as people pleasing, not pissing people off, the ststus quo, etc... I for one have said before and I will say it again, I will purchase her book. I do feel she will have some unique insight into Prince's day to day grind and mind set. In that hair-stylist chair people can seem to let their hair down so to speak and talk more freely. Also, you can show some emotions that you may not intend to show. Like if he got a call or someone came in during getting his hair did, I am sure Kim witnessed attitude changes, heard some things from him and others. I do respect Kim's grind and feel she has been respectful to Prince. That is at least my perspective. "A strong spirit transcends rules." - Prince

Just hopped on this thread again since 4/16 is getting closer. Does it still seem as though the book will be ready then? I want to purchase online but want to be sure I’ll get a book if I buy one.

Maybe Kim will try to sell the hair and comb set while she's promoting her book * Couldn't resist...

Maybe some more socks out of the package that looked like they were never worn.

Not I am not making the assumption that Prince confided in them as if they were his psychologist. Sorry if I gave that impression. These are people that saw him day in and day out. They were around him and his entourage. Given that all the ones that I mentioned were around for a decent length of time they saw and heard things. As you get older you see what insecure people do. If they are feeling somehow slighted they ask for reassurance from someone else that is not competition. If I wrote a book about Prince myself I would spend more time questioning those that were never a love interest than I would with those that were. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Unless the book will be released as fiction, for legal reasons she will most likely be pretty careful. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

I would still love him and so would many loyal fans if a book was written that was honest about this. I want an honest book. A book that admits that Genius often makes you diffent. A book that truly lets you see why people felt that they would follow him to the perverbial end of the Earth and then suddenly they are nowhere in his lfe. I want a complicated book about a brilliant and complicated man. Yup, that is a lot to ask. I want a complicated book about a brilliant and complicated man. Yup, that is a lot to ask. I just don’t think he was that open and direct about his feelings. As Susannah stated in her lengthy discussion about their serious relationship - he was not able to be honest about his feelings or vulnerable in any way. All of those feelings came out in his music and not through regular/normal communication. She said he could not communicate like most can in a relationship. So, if he could not share his feelings with someone closest to him I doubt that he was sharing too much with his associates. * I do think he may have confided in some men who were with him for many years - Roy Bennett became a trusted friend and he worked with him for a long time. Hans Martin Buff, his Engineer for several years, stated there are some conversations he had with Prince that he will take to his grave - so that implies he was told some personal things. If so, he’s a very loyal friend/associate.

I think we'd all be waiting til hell freezes over if we're expecting one person who fully understood the deep inner workings of his mind or his deepest feelings about anything. Maybe that person doesn't exist, has already passed or has zero desire to be torn to shreds by his loyalists fans. All I'm hoping for is different perspectives of observations and some stories about moments in the day of. And some family history which only a handful, if that, could provide. Who he loved the most and stuff like that I'm sure went with him. Now if he kept journals which really haven't been confirmed imo, its possible a decade or 2 from now they'll come out if not destroyed. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Not to sound too metaphysical but I guess your intuition or third eye already knows much about him in a strange way...why were you attracted to him, what about him resonated with you, what does your gut say? I know that is "out there" but there is so much that flys under the conscious human mind and so much we can't access but feelings/dreams/ epifany can give us valuable information. I think what we fans are hungry for is actually confirmation of our suspicions, hunches, and validation as to why Prince meant so much to each of us.

Yes, I agree. I think certain people who knew him personally probably only saw one side of him, and that may not have even been a truly genuine side. I think many saw his humorous side, as we've heard stories from various associates/girlfriends/friends about how he loved to joke around, and some also saw his moodier side. * I think observations about Prince from those who were around him would be good, but still may not be an accurate portrayal of this real thoughts or feelings. As he wrote in his song Breakdown "baby baby, see there's a door that you can walk through, where there used to be a wall..." He's admitting his past inability to be open in a relationship. * I have listened to most of the Piano and Microphone shows, and he was extremely humble during those shows, nostalgic, and was talking about some aspects of his life. At the first show at PP he was going through the beginning of his story through the songs along with some dialogue. The first group of songs were in sequential order by time frame. * It is frustrating that there has been no news about his Memoir being released. Although only 50 pages, it may provide some additional insight into his deeper feelings. Or, it could be completely cryptic, which was his ususal style. I still go by the songs to get a better idea of how he was thinking and feeling at various times. He had stated on more than one occasion that if you want to know about his life listen to his songs, because it's all there.

That is the one item unilaterally all his fans are chomping at the bit for, i don't remember seeing one person who has been against its release but yet nothing official. It had a publisher, Its owned by P which the Estate controls. Unless there really was no 50 pages to begin with I dont think it would take a genius marketer to fluff it up with childhood, timeline pix handwritten bits and put it on out. Thats damned near the holy grail right now Time keeps on slipping into the future...

I gotta say I don't care one way or the other if those fifty pages ever see the light of day. Those fifty pages are a project he started and never finished. If he had lived he might have gone back and tossed out those pages. Just not that interested.

Thats damned near the holy grail right now No thanks. A man who outright lied to feed mystery would have never written a decent bio. Most autobiographies are very flawed and prince was so funny about his business that most of his people are still not talking.

I seem to remember he was asking Tyka about their family's geneology and migration from Louisiana. This gave me the impression it may have been more factual/historical than confessional.I doubt there were many intimacies shared in those initial 50 pages.
