Yes, that is true about the lunch. You also have to pay her expenses while she is there, airfare, hotel, etc. lol

Who was she marketing that to? Purple fam? I am kind of amazed at how many comments on Kim’s FB page are going after Steve Parke for his FB post. I thought his post was quite respectful. And how is his post (which he now removed) wring but her selling Prince’s hair and socks is not? eek [Edited 1/29/19 15:14pm]

I don't doubt that there was a misunderstanding. Steve has a right to profit and have credit for his photos. What I am disappointed with is that he chose Social Media as a means to 'out her' rather than reach out to her personally.

Kim is not wealthy. Most of those that worked for Prince are not wealthy. Prince died so suddenly that many completely lost their means of living and P never established benefits for his people. You often hear people near P say that he would give them personal items and tell them it was their 401K. Giving his hair to his hair dresser is not hard to imagine. Prince didn't care about this world after he left. He was always living for the next life and left a legacy for those here on earth. I seriously don't think hair, combs or socks are something he cared about here on earth or in the after life.

As far as Kim's manager, assistant, etc, These are not professionals. They are not getting paid. They are all volunteers. She is doing this the hard way and working hard to get her story out. I'm not an insider but I did hear remorse in her FB comments. Lets not be so hard on her or any of the Purple Family. She made a mistake and will probably make many more. She probably is navigating this whole experience by trial and error.

Steve, I'm sorry you feel betrayed by Kim. Go to her. Obviously, her manager (by self-proclaimation) is the person who failed you. Sit down and hammer this out directly with Kim. Don't bring it to the fams. It looks like you are purposefully trying to hurt her even though I know that is not your intent. (otherwise you would not have pulled down your original post. You don't want harm to come to anyone as a result of your words.)

Kim, thank you for letting the Fams know you have reached out and are trying to make amends with Steve and to do better. I want to hear your story and I want to see Steve's photos. I intend on purchasing your book just as I have purchased Steve's. Ask Steve what he needs or wants to make this right and work together as a family. Yes! That's what we all are, Family.

As far as P's stinky socks, who care?? If she wants to sell them, they are probably the most affordable personal item a fam can purchase. If you look at the auction, Michael Jackson's socks and shoes are being auctioned off too. If you are disgusted by the item, don't bid on it.....and don't bash Kim for selling it, or another for purchasing it.

As Prince once said in one of his live performance of The Ladder; 'Don't you want to be the generation that gets it right? Don't you want to show the world that this can work? I know I do. Let music bring us together. If you don't know the words, step back and listen. If you do, sing along and listen to perfect harmony."

Be kind, Be loving, Be forgiving, and lets work together. Peace and Be Wild.

Love it!

Oh please...didn't Prince give her, her own salon, or put out a line of hair products for her?

This is a perfect example how these ASSociates play with fans emotions. She did something wrong, fans called her out, and now all of a sudden we are supposed to feel sorry for her? GMAFB

She has sold stuff in other auctions too, so this isn't the first time that she has put up anything at an auction. I also believe this isn't the end of the hair ordeal, she'll be back trying to sell it too.

These ASSociates complain that their boss didn't pay them enough or have any type of benefits. Well boo f'ing woo. Join real life and the club.

How about they go out and get a f'n job like the rest of us. I don't feel sorry for any of them.

And none of you would work and not get paid for it, why do you expect Steve Parkes to? He has every right to say anything he wants too on his social media. If I was him, I would've left it up. And he did contact her manager which told him it's all good, it was a mistake. Then he sees where she is still using the pic.

He did that. He reached out to her privately, she apologized, but she kept on using that picture. How many times was he supposed to beg her privately to stop?

^^Êxactly. What's pissing me off the most is that she got called out from the fams AND steve and the least she could've done was to admit that she fucked up big time. But what did she do? She tried to blame both incidents on "gross misunderstandings".

How old was Kim when she worked for Prince? It's funny, Mayte said the same thing about money and that he didn't pay good....but you know what she did? She walked up and complained to him about that. And she told us in her book that he wasn't even aware of how much anybody got.

If it was as bad as some try to make it out to be, why didn't they complain to him about it like Mayte did? I don't know if there's another example of someone actually talking to Prince about it. It's just kinda embarassing that a 20 year old got more guts to complain to her boss than someone who's much older than her...and if you can't complain about the money, quit and find another celebrety to work for.....jesus, they act like Prince kept them as hostages and as if they had no other choice than to work for him, no matter the circumstances.

Plus the fact she said she worked for him for 29 years, which isn't true at all. In the police records it is stated that she quit working with him 6 years before he died, so 'her' timeline is way off.

I found his post on a Prince FB group. I was kind of surprised as the FB Prince groups I am a member of (but rarely visit as I’m off FB now) hardly ever call out associates for anything. A9A7B177-E4D0-4DDF-A13B-BCF6A15D9E78 [Edited 1/29/19 3:33am]

I don't agree with Kim attempting to auction Prince's hair, but I think her use of the photo is less cut-and-dried. I wonder if she had indeed requested permission to reproduce the photo of her and Prince, would Parke have agreed. After all, it IS her image and it is probably included in his book, from which he is profiting. Although the law probably does not require it, I'm also wondering if she has been compensated for the use of her likeness in his book.

Yes. If its the photo of her doing Princes hair, she is a part of it. So with so little left to go around about Prince, and time passing enough that people are grabbing for this or that sometimes, I can see her thinking she’s “due” half of something. But he is right, it was premature and inconsiderate and hurtful of her to just go ahead and assume action like that.
Oh well. What are you going to do in a situation like that? Best to not get angry, I say. Live and learn is all.

At 60 or older years old, you try and start all over. Isn't that what the PRN Assoc Foundation was started? They don't have money. Prince did not fund 401K or medical. They were not the ones who got rich. They followed their hearts and had an awesome experience playing, performing, or in the presence of/with Prince.

'The Boss' as you call him, didn't have a ton of cash himself at death. He, like Elvis and so many others, is worth so much more dead than alive. Paisley Park may not keep it's doors open much longer due to cash. There are no winners as a result of Prince's passing. Neither Kim nor Steve (or anyone else for that matter) is going to become a millionaire based on their books.

We are all outsiders looking in. We don't know the whole truth. You, Penny Purple, nor me, Kiki 5490. This is why it shouldn't have been put out on a public forum. This should be taken care of in private by the two of them.

Steve said he contacted Kim’s manager. It seems like he did reach out before going to Facebook. You don’t see other associates doing things Kim has done. I’m sure many of them were in a similar situation. No record companies were knocking on Shelby’a door but she’s not out there putting Prince’s hair and socks up for auction. I’m sorry but it’s hard to have sympathy when so many things keep getting chalked up as a misunderstanding. But only after being called out by Prince fam.

Who has confirmed that Kim didn’t work for Prince for over 6 years? If it’s Omarr why would any one trust him? How would he know? That one photo from Italy where Prince is photographing the media and Kim is standing behind him is from November 2010. So she must have still been working for him then.

To be completely fair has Kim actually complained that Prince didn’t pay her enough? Or is it just friends/Prince Fam making out like she’s fallen on hard times. I wouldn’t want to accuse her of saying something she never did.

Starting all over? rolleyes

Under the watchful eye of Prince, Kim opened her First Lady Elite Salon and Spa in L.A. in 2001. After countless videos and world tours the second salon was birthed in 2011. Indulgent Concept Salon was located on well-known Wilshire Blvd adjacent facility that serviced not only Prince, but also some of Hollywood’s finest the likes of Nicole Ari Parker, Yolanda Whitaker “YoYo”, Vanessa and Angela Simmons, Wendy Raquel Robinson and so many more.

It's in the files....

He died in 2016 so if the pic was in 2010...that's 6 years.

Actually at the age of 56, I am starting all over. I lost my job of 31 years because my boss retired and closed his practice. He didn't provide any benefits either. These ASSociates are no different then the rest of us.

Prince had gold bars in PP worth millions. He had 100's of thousands dollars in cash just laying around.

Again, Kim had not worked for him for at least 6 years before his death. He was ok when all of them was working for him, flying around the world, staying in hotels all on his dime.

Kim put the hair and other things up for auction to the PUBLIC. I'm glad Steve said something about it.(the photo) He tried to get the problem fixed and thought the problem was fixed, til she posted photos of her signing those photos.....all on social media...that's when he spoke out.

Please don’t tar all associates because of what Kim is doing. Not fair to lump them all together as many do over at LA.

Name them. Which of the ASSociates haven't tried to make money off of him after his death?

And who could or would dream up statements like that? Kim had been such a benign presence, who’d diss her like that back then?

As for the associates: as long as they only write books about their experiences, I don't care cause I think books can be good things. I didn't mind Kim writing the book either.....but then she pulled that shit....and now she can suck it.

I agree with what militant said on Twitter. He doesn't mind when they auction off objects, but it should be a hard stop when it comes to things that were part of a persons being.

U call having OVER $40 MILLION in cash not having a ton of cash? rolleyes

That was my first thought. Prince left behind a VAST fortune, much of it liquid assets like cash and gold bars. Not to mention his STUNNING list of real estate assets. To the extent that Paisley Park's future is not assured, it is due to P's lack of estate planning.

You know it’s funny because when I saw Cobain’s hair up for auction it didn’t feel the same as when I saw Prince’s. There are famous hair collectors out there, me, you, and Militant aren’t one of them but she’ll get offers I bet. More power to her.

Musicians performing the music is much different PennyPurple. I want them to, to keep the music alive when they were a part of it. I would always prefer the people involved in creating performing the music to do shows and such over other artists 'covering' the music. Any day. And they cannot do it for free.

Let's make 1 thing clear. There was no misunderstanding about her giving that hair, comb and doo rag to the auction house. They would've never have known about it, if she didn't give them it to sell.

This was on her social media about the uproar over Steve Parkes. I don't believe her statement either.

How have Liv, Shelby, Ida, Donna, Hannah Cassie, Elisa tried to make money off his death? And I wouldn’t say there’s anything wrong NPG or Revolution touring. I highly doubt they’re making much money off the touring they’re doing.

I refuse to read any of the investigation files. Did Kim herself confirm she hadn’t worked for Prince for 6 years? If she was doing his hair in November 2010 I find it hard to believe all of a sudden in January 2011 she’s no longer working for him anymore. If she wasn’t working for him the last 6 years of his life than the most she could have worked for him was 19 or 20 years. Yet she’s claimed 25 years, 29 years and nobody has called her out over it.

The fans did call her out on her claims and still are, at 1 point I believe she even shut her social media account down over it. Her story always changes on how many years she worked for P.

I'm not going to go over 1000's of pages in the files to find out who exactly made that statement, but it is there.

As far as the other ASSociates making $$ or who hasn't, maybe we need a separate thread for that.

Right now Kim is trying to play the victim card, like this ordeal is not her fault, and it was, the hair and the picture.

Prince did a lot for his former employee's even after they weren't in his bands. He's paid for medical bills, funerals, bought some houses.

Selling his hair is just low, low, low.
