My favorite line was from the Rick James episode, "Prince lived one year longer than Rick. That motherfucka!!"

Shout out to the animators, that look Prince shoots Rick when he says, "That little motherfucka is making me work." That look was prefect.

Does anyone think Prince's mega success derailed Rick James life and career? The bandmembers seem to imply that it really messed Rick up.

Just watched the Bootsy episode, and that one's so sweet. There are some hilarious hijinks (James Brown accidentally taking LSD, for instance), but then it gets kinda depressing (Bootsy getting sick of being a front man), then the accident happens, and that turns around everything and it ends with a very happy Bootsy living his best life.

Prince ran onto Bootsy's concert stage with a tape recorder to catch the groove, and got his ass thrown into the crowd by a bodyguard. Bootsy didn't mean for it to happen, but the bodyguard didn't know who Prince was then. That story is on youtube.

He says Prince legalized Funk/made it danceable. He is sweet. I love his voice, and his laugh tickles me. Bootsy, cheers.

your post points to why i don't believe it, people who are prince fans are naturally gonna say "ya he killed him" and ricks fans are going to say the same. Rick had You and i which was a monster hit for black folks, huge, bustin out was probably out by that point, his best was street songs which was a year or two away but he had plenty of great funk by that point and hits. the objective accounts I've read about it were generally that the black audiences didn't really know what to make of some dude in underwear but that some of his funkier stuff had em grooving, it's neither nor I don't think. Prince didn't get booed like he did at the RS concert or chickens and bottles thrown at him but he didn't steal the show either.

Some ppl were there, like Jill Jones she discussed this during her interview on the Prince Podcast on youtube. Ppl just weren't really feeling Rick anymore, his sales started dwindling & the Teena Marie camp left his tour after Prince did & joined Prince's Dirty Mind Tour

sure but a smart man knows that already and takes it with a grain of salt. People are so manipulative and deceptive I learned not to let that kind of crap get to me. You work your heart out for someone and they end up badmouthing you, you learn not to do that again and you also learn to take what anyone says witha grain of salt if you didn't see it for yourself.

He had plenty of opportunity over the years and most of the times he spent that babbling esoteric nonsense or conspiracy bullshit. Liner notes for his albums are often riddeld with errors. Uptown pointed out several instances in the Crystal Ball liner notes where Prince's story couldn't be true because the recording dates contradicted him.
