Check out the article published by Clash Magazine entitled "Judith Hill's 'Queen Of The Hill' Is A Funky Pearl" featuring the premiere of Judith's new music video: "Judith explains: "'Queen Of The Hill' is a funk song that celebrates the power and strength of a woman. I collaborated with Bali dancers and musicians to celebrate the coming together of cultures. It will be on my sophomore album, 'Golden Child' and the making of the music video will be featured in the documentary, Beats Of Paradise." Here it is: https://www.clashmusic.co...unky-pearl

Yeah its a must to have on something "physical" be it CD or Vinyl, too good a record and too many things I want to know, lyrics who played etc....this is the best of 2018 IMO and deserves more than a digtial release. Just listening to "Golden Child" for the first time and Judith really shines on this one; she is coming into her own as a solo artist. Best female album of the year for me. Looking forward to seeing what she does with the musical show... Can't help but think Prince would have really appreciated this album. I agree and I'm pretty sure that he would have loved it. She said in her interview with The Violet Reality that he was really excited about "Queen of the Hill" and was passing it around to people and thought it was really funky. She said he also came in the room while she was rehearsing "You Can't Blame Me" and asked about it and told her that she should do a whole album "in that vein." [Edited 12/19/18 12:49pm]

Nice to hear that Prince got to listen to a couple of the songs... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I thought so too. She also talked a bit about the music that he had been working on and said that he would call her up in the middle of the night and play her a song and then hang up. She talked about their time together very fondly. I thought it was a very good interview.

I'll bet cash money Prince is on some of this material. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

She said that he had nothing to do with the production of those songs but I wouldn't be surprised. What she said about the music that he was working on made me a bit sad to hear especially when she said that one particular song she liked never was recorded. She said she thought it was really cool. It was nice to hear that he was so excited about it though and I thought that she gave some good insight into the last year. She said that she played the album as it was at the time for him about a week before he passed and that he was really excited about it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=U20BF6G-g18 [Edited 12/19/18 17:19pm]

I did think it was interesting that she said that he wasn't involved with the production of 'those' tracks making me wonder if she may have been suggesting that he may have been on some of the others. Some do have his sound,I agree.

The timeline she mentioned in another interview stated she had written the album in 2016, not mentioning the time period, she did quite a few shows starting in June of 2016, I saw her here in NYC and then she later returned with Shelby and Liv, I dont know if it all started after his death, but what I have always been taking back by is her LIVE performances with her band, mom and dad, they are very strong musicians and deep roots in varied styles so it could just be their influences too, her dad is heavy into funk and her mom is classical but a wizard on keyboard, and then she adds in great players and background singers, she gets it, she has that LIVE thing down which of course comes from PRINCE but lets not forget she did work with Stevie a bit before PRINCE and of course Michael, and others, Dave Stewart for many years before PRINCE met her. True. From what she said,it sounds like she may have started writing for the album in 2015 with her saying that Prince came in the room while they were rehearsing "You Can't Blame Me" and asking about it. Her parents are exceptional musicians I agree and I'm sure that her work with the artists you mentioned influenced her as well. The way she talked in the 'Uncovering Prince' interview,it sounds like he didn't have much knowledge of the project at that time. She said that he had begun recording with the new band so it seems he was concentrating on that and she wanted to do 'Golden Child' on her own.

the Back in time video was just released and she says "This is the last project I did with Prince" that was from her first album which she says was set for a release officially April 2016 but due to his passing she cancelled it, the video is out now for "Back in Time". The more details like this come out, the more I see that Prince was hiding things well addiction wise, I really think that what happened on that Plane was all new to Judith and she was totally unaware, Kirk on the other hand no comment. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I didn't know about the video for "Back In Time" Thanks for the info. Yes,I think as well that Judith was unaware of his addiction. Since she was splitting her time between L.A. and Minnesota, she wasn't always there and I imagine that it was easy to keep it from her. With Kirk being around Prince for that long and traveling with him,I feel that he likely knows more than he has said.

I hope she has moved past all that nonsense about her being "cursed" because she worked for MJ and then Prince. :eyeroll: "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
