Susannah has posted the following regarding Aretha Franklin: "Lady Aretha, may you Rest In Peace! We will move our hips for the people from side to side and set ourselves down here awhile and take a ride while we movin’ Rock Steady! In your name. Amen"

I don't want 2 be mean but who wud want 2 wear a tank top/ T-shirt/ hoody that had the words Starfish & Coffee Maple Syrup & Jam on the front in large writing? I think the merchandise looks tacky. A bad idea. It looks like Susannah is desperate 2 make money anyway that she can

But for what it is, the price is criminal.

I get that a girl's gotta eat, but this is a bit on the tacky side. It's difficult to see Prince's memory used as a platform like this. Her prices are high, but I've seen similar price points at merch tables at concerts I've been to recently. Why is it so difficult to upload an avatar?

Questlove wears them, but who else? I think I saw him wearing a Prince one the night Janet Jackson was on Jimmy Fallon. "Andre & ....

Prince himself always sold merchandise for his music/likeness throughout his career, and wore it himself. She has co-writing credit on this song. The song and story were important to Prince, and he played the song in concerts throughout the years. He also performed the song in '96 on the Muppets show. It was her story that inspired Prince to write the song. Nothing wrong with her promoting both the song and the story. * I believe someone else had begun selling the lyric t-shirts to profit off of the song, which were written incorrectly. There was an extra "&" written into the words. Susannah was contacted about it, and then decided to create her own shirts/merchandise with the correct lyric. I believe she is also donating a percentage of any profits to a charity/foundation that supports research for Autism.

Those who love the song/lyrics will wear the shirts. There are tons of shirts like this on the market - many other Prince related shirts too. I actually like the coffee mugs and the Starfish logo....

Susannah has posted the following on Twitter regarding "The Dream Factory": "The Dream Factory track reference’s St. Paul in only one line...Prince did not write the song about Paul.. Prince’s Dream Factory was real and filled with joy and wonder..."

Very nice! Thanks Latin

Yes, the biggest retaliation toward St Paul was during the March 1986 1st Avenue Parade show when he sang the infamous "St Paul, punk of the month!!" during their performance of the song Mutiny. Paul has talked about that and laughed about it. Love that show!!!

I had read that the song was inspired by Paul so I am glad that she said that. I also love that she said "Prince's Dream Factory was real and filled with joy and wonder." I haven't heard that show. I'm going to see if I can track it down. Thanks!

Oh, it's a GREAT show!! It was their "tryout" for the Parade tour. It had been posted on YT awhile back for a short time. I'm sure it's been deleted, but I grabbed it before it disappeared The post was video of the show, with a small portion of just audio where the picture cut off. * I think the reason why Dream Factory was rumored to be about Paul is because of Prince's Crystal Ball liner notes: * "Dream Factory - written 4 a turn coat, who after * Could be about any number of people who had left his camp by that point, but Paul was a good guess

Sorry I missed it! I'll see if I can at least find the audio of it. Yes the liner notes made me think of Paul. "Dream Factory" has always been a favorite of mine and I found the lyrics intriguing upon first listen.

Yes, I love everything from that period - Movie Star, the original Crystal Ball, original Witness 4 The Prosecution, and all the others!!

Me too! I love the SOTT outtakes!

I do love the released SOTT, but it's just unbelievable how many fantastic songs were dropped for that record. The two '86 configurations of Dream Factory/Crystal Ball are just amazing. Would love for the Estate to release the June 3rd originals. From princevault: *

So many amazing songs! It would be wonderful if the estate could do that! I was pleased to see that "Crucial" and "Dream Factory" were included on Antholgy. [Edited 8/27/18 12:07pm]

It is important to note that those album sequences are usually acetate test pressings. So, that means they failed some sort of playback test if they didn't come out that way.

I'm guessing the bad WB board meeting is more likely, as it was not much longer before he had to scrap the 3 Disc idea, and come up with a double album sequence

Well, I think the Dream Factory album sequence of songs as a whole was very wonderous and joyfoul, especially for Susannah and her time with Prince then....however, the lyrics of the actual song seem to speak specifically to or about a particular person The second half of the 2nd verse speaks to Paul ("he told me I was a saint"), but I think the song as a whole is describing him leaving the camp for his own deal, and Prince's resentment of that choice. * This is what it's like in the Dream Factory, oh!

As I was listening to it again,I was thinking the same.

Yes, I do think the "Dream Factory" compilation and period was a very wonderful time for them, but I have to say that I think this song in its entirety was inspired by Prince's anger with Paul leaving the camp and The Family. * The fact that he sings the chorus to this song in the middle of Mutiny at the March '86 1st Avenue show is another big indication. He has the backup guys (Jerome, Greg, Wally) chanting, "St Paul, punk of the month!!" as well, and Prince literally calls Paul out during the song (Paul, you out there? If he is, he's lookin' for them car keys now!") * I only more recently saw this show on video, and when they performed Mutiny I was like, whoaaaa!! Prince was really pissed off!!!

Wow. Sounds like he was! That's interesting that he sang the chorus of "Dream Factory" during Mutiny with the chants. Seems that he was aiming the whole song at Paul. I'll have to track down that show!
