If you keep on excercising and watch your nutrition after a certain age, then you can still keep a decent shape. Maybe not the same as around one's tostesteron level during their twenties, but then again, that's the way of a natural process.

I love it. I was always amazed at how that part sounded.

I remember i was incarcerated at Juvenile facility. And since i wasn't a trouble maker, i was allowed to have certain special privileges. And one privilege was that i was allowed to have two music cassettes. One of the cassettes i had was What Time Is It?. And man, i wore that cassette out. I played that thing at least once a day(and usually more than once), for at least a month.

I tell ya, music saved me.

Anyway, my best memory of What Time Is It?, is seeing The Time in concert. And having them play most of the songs off of WT. I remember that Vanity 6 came on first and did their thing well.Then The Time came on, and they got down. They were tight. Its been so long that its hard to remember all the details of the show. I do remember this one minor detail. Somebody threw a glow stick onto the stage and Jimmy kicked it hard back into the crowd....Oh, that and all the marijuana smoke that was in the air. And women yelling out for Prince to get naked.


That was one of the best nights of my life.


Oh, and one more thing. I always loved reading the liner notes. If i remember correctly, in a lot of prince related stuff, the liner notes were usually fairly sparse in words. However, i always got a kick out of reading that Jamie Starr/Starr Company statement. Actually i got a kick out of reading anything having to do with the production of those albums.

What a great story! Wish I could have been at that show...

Yeah, it was a great show. It was cool(understatement) to see Vanity 6 up there in their skimpy outfits(hey, i was barely 16 at the time). And having the pleasure to see Prince for the first time, and to see him perform songs such as 1999, International Lover, DMSR and Little Red Corvette etc...? Man, that affected me pretty deeply. And it was just so cool to see the stage set up. It was like in the 1999 and LRC videos. And since i was really, really into Prince's 1999 era imagery, all that just blew my young mind.

And one of the things that stood out about The Time's performance was that they were tight. As in their dance moves and the way they danced and played their instruments at the same time. I thought that was hella cool. For me, since i was born too late to see in concert (in their prime)groups like the Temptations, The Manhattans, The Four Tops, The Jackson 5 etc, who had great choreography in their performances. Well, The Time were kind of the next best thing.


I know for me, if for some reason i was only able to have attended just one Prince concert, i would choose that one. There's probably been better Prince concert experiences but the fact that i got a chance to see 1999 era Prince, The Time in their prime, and Vanity 6??? Even in looking back to all that has transpired in the 30 plus years since then, no doubt i would still choose that period(even if it meant that i would never get a chance to see Prince perform Purple Rain, etc).



One last thing. In thinking about it more, it was Terry Lewis who kicked the glow stick...
