SHEILA E. hopes to one day write about her favorite PRINCE songs

Sheila E. has posted the following on Twitter:

"Hi family, I’m sharing some of my most favorite Prince songs. There are stories about each song I chose and I hope one day to write about them. Enjoy"

Here are "Sheila E.'s Prince Picks" on Tidal:

All 80's songs except one. And she OF COURSE includes the song she sang. Sheila sometimes annoys me.

Sheila needs to move on. Pick her own songs and write about them. Sounds like she's getting ready to write a book? Hopefully since the Estate is sending C&D letters, she'll be getting one too.

It could not be a more uninspired list.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yep, she was probably somehow involved in each song too. Some friend.

I like all of her choices except Sexy MF. Don't like that song. I thought she might have included Erotic City and A Love Bizarre. cool

it's her choice of songs, and she said she wants to talk about the background of them. Why is that annoying to you?

what is the issue, she was a part of the camp and a part of a lot of recordings

how should Sheila E move on? yet fans are still crying like Prince died yesterday

so do we need to move on and stop talking about our favorite Prince songs?

When she says "I hope to one day write about them", what does that mean? What's stopping her from writing about them today.

I'm not a fan of how some of the associates have acted since April 16 but I'm happy to hear unbiased opinions and personal stories. I think some have already made up their minds though. Damned if they do, damned if they don't...

Yes, I would think that if 4 of her favorite prince songs out of his massive catalogue were songs she sang or played drums on (if her list included Love Bizarre, Glamorous Life, Play in the Sunshine, and Erotic City) , she is making it a bit too much about herself. Maybe the songs all being 80's songs is no big deal (shortsided but not untypical), but his career was too massive to so be so much about her. Not saying she did that, but had she done that, well....

I don't agree that she needs to move on or that she can't talk about their collaborations with some pride and historical context. But, those song lists are intended to draw audiences to HIS music in a broader sense than any one collaboration or group of collaborations. It is more generous not only to Prince but also to his other collaborators to draw from a bigger well.

She's too busy booking the next decade's worth of Purple Tribute Cruise with Royal Caribbean.

Oh please! If you sang back up or played in the studio with Prince, you would love the same songs. Hell she mightas well just post her first couple albums up! lol

She may have been. That doesn't invalidate her love of a song. That is a bit like blaming Paul or Susannah or liking one of their songs just because they sang on it.

I'll clarify my previous statement a bit: it's uninspired because Sheila was there for way more songs than on this list. She could have put up a deeper cut that was special to her or whatever. This list is no more interesting or unique than what she did. "Dorothy Parker" or "Play in the Sunshine" are the deepest she goes with what she was there for. It just seems like something a fan of 20 years might choose.

But maybe that's all she likes.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

She has to find someone to pay her first. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Over these few years I've gotten the impression Shelia is ready for her return on her investment after all these decades. She's made a point in stating the amount of time she has put into the studio work on many many songs.

Sheila needs to start doing her own thing again. Stop using the Prince fans to make a living.

You haven't followed her career then

.

Sheila E has always done her own thing, she always performed and done the EFamily shows and albums. She's done award shows and other things. She CONTINUES playing for charity and raising money for various needs. And she has always done her own albums that are not Prince related. She's partnered with the Conga Room club and one other etc that Prince himself benefited from

.

So I don't know why you are coming this way...

.

And if someone is going to see a Sheila E show etc, they are not being forced. She sure isn't using anyone, I don't even know what that means...
