Right. So this is why I mention difficulty with Pandora.
So interviewers and others will publish elsewhere.
And no, people aren’t going to chase this interview down if they can’t get it; they’re going to pass it over.

No unfortunately

More than likely, it will eventually make its way to YouTube and/or SoundCloud.

I remember him saying something like, "That *&@# was real," but he never specified just how far things went. In my opinion, he left a lot up to the imagination.

Loved the interview & I'm sure a lot of things in it are true. This part - probably not. Jesse most likely wasn't at the filming of that scene. In Alan Light's book, Ken Robinson (who edited the film with Magnoli) talked about the scene - "We looked at the dailies, and she was playing it a little bit bigger than she was supposed to, and you could see the awkwardness, the uncomfortableness on his face. When we saw that, the scene was immediately gone."

Its extremely rare for folks to actually have sex on film sets while shooting sex scenes, extremely, and when it happens its usually leaked to the press. The last movie I ever heard this happen was a very controversial movie named Brown Bunny. I think more people than Jesse Johnson need to make that statement about P and appolonia before I believe it.

I did listen to the interview, but I don't remember him saying outright that P and Apples had full-blown sex during the deleted scene. I am going to listen to that part again. I remember him saying something like, "That shit was real," but he never specified just how far things went. In my opinion, he left a lot up to the imagination.

What I heard Jesse say was that during the initial filming of the barn scene Prince and Appollonia had just met, and Prince was visibly uncomfortable. It showed on camera, so they could not use that scene. Prince was told to go and spend more time alone with Appollonia (whatever that means) in order to get to know her, so he would feel more relaxed with the sex scenes.

*

In one of the Biographies I read, Alan Leeds talks about this barn scene, and also a shower scene for the movie. He stated that neither one could be used, because Prince was visibly uncomfortable and the scenes looked unnatural. My guess it that by the time they filmed the bedroom scene, which was used for the film, they had gotten to know each other, and Prince was more comfortable.

*

Appllonia has stated that she was in a relationship with David Lee Roth during this time. It was also written that she was legally married to another guy at this time.

Yes, I read Alan Light's book as well - mentioned it in my comment above, although I forgot it was Ken Robinson's statement. Whether they were ever initimate on any level is not confirmed, but they certainly were not actually having sex during those scenes. I also read, either in Alan's book or another Biography, that absolutely no one, other than Prince, Appollonia and the film crew were present during these scenes, and others for the film.

It was said for years that Mickey Rourke and Carre Otis’ steamy sex scene was real. Go ahead. Look it up and enjoy 😊

Probaly true, but I believe they were also in a relationship during that time, or began one during the filming. So, that makes more sense. Prince and Appollonia were never in a relationship. Appollonia has stated she was with David Lee Roth during that time.

Ok not the interview but a review of the interview so there will be some choice pieces on what was in the interview if that helps.

That beat at the end of the "I Don't Wanna Leave You" was one of the many versions of the song "Make Up" from Vanity 6. Jesse didn't even remeber the weird ending until Quest played it for him.

Once Quest played it, he mentioned that it was one of many versions of that song. Still wasn't sure why he decided to place it there however.

I may have spoke too soon. I'm getting somekind of error message, I don't know if it's temporary or not.

I meant QuestLove. Listening to it now on my phone. Not sure what's happening with yours. I had an entirely different error message, but QL still showed up. I don't think I have the premium service, it keeps pinging me to sign up for it.

I don't have Pandora Premium, but I don't get interrupted with their ads or commercials on Questlove's show - only when I listen to music...

I enjoyed Jesse's interview. It was ice to hear someone who was with Prince prior to Purple Rain stardom. He was in there he said when Prince laid tracks for songs that so many find endearing. He said he is tired of all the lies and busted some of the myths flying around now. So glad he said it. I believe Jesse because he is not person trying to more important.

*

I have enjoyed many of Questloves podcast interviews. I liked this one because it was just a guy talking about music, and his place in it and what he remembered and knew. Great interview.

I wish all the Time who were around back during the 1999 tour would go to Questlove Supreme and just talk and share.

I think you may be confusing Appollonia with Vanity - Vanity did a couple of soft-porn films (Tanya's Island is one of them) prior to meeting Prince. What soft-porn films did Appollonia do??
