I'm going start this thread again, because the first one got derailed (and will be closed). As I said in the other thread, Mayte stated in her latest Interview with Schkopi that she's thinking about doing a Documentary. Here's the link to the interview:

Here's what I don't want to see:

-A docu about the relationship, the book etc.

-It simply shouldn't be a way to promote her story with him, because everybody can read the book.

Here's what I'd like to see, if she feels like there has to be a docu:

-The Symbol Era would be cool (She did talk a bit about his name change and all in the book and if she manages to get a few people with more knowledge about the thing, the docu could be good

-If it's possible, show us some unseen footage. It shouldn't feel like we've seen it all before.

-From a professional point of view, tell us more about shooting the video for The One.

-The focus should be the music, the videos, tours whatever, 90's Prince, of course a bit about the NPG.

-Anything that would be good for his legacy and a docu that maybe will help to gain new fans, keep the legacy alive and try to introduce him to a new audience.

I agree. As I said on the other thread,I would also like to hear her thoughts on TGE era and Emancipation.Thanks for sharing the interview again. Listening to it again and she said that she had some great behind the scenes footage and some "funny stuff" that she would love to share. She then said that she was thinking about doing a documentary. I think that would be cool if she did a doc along those lines with info about some of the projects and albums she was a part of as well.

I think sharing funny moments would be so very nice and fresh. Simply sharing some funny times. Shelia E did a bit of that at celebration Put up some photos and talked candidly about what was happening at the time. It was heart warming and welcomed. I think if she did something along those lines It would be enjoyable.

That sounds like that was lovely! I agree. I love hearing stories from those close to him that reveal his sense of humor.

Yes! The only thing that helped me through the first time after his death were the funny stories the people told about him. I think GQ or another magazine interviewed a lot people who told stories about his funny side.

Yes I agree only positive vibes, no jokes at his expense that Make him look bad. Although I did enjoy seeing him laugh at himself When jay Leno got him good. That was refreshing.

I loved his laugh on that Jay Leno clip. Very cute! Sounds like he got Jay pretty good too with that phone prank about fixing his chair They had a nice connection.

yes you can tell jay really got him the way he laughs and slaps the top of the car and looking for the camera. yes, very cute!!

Just watched that interview. She was a bit contradictory with some of her statements. When talking about her contribution with editing the videos, she stated when she was pregnant (which was 1996), she hired someone to teach her how to use the editing equipment in order to change or fix the video production. She then stated that she "fixed" the 3 Chains O' Gold video, but that video was done several years prior when she had just started at PP. I seriously doubt that she would have had any control over the production of that work. She stated she wasn't even aware that Prince was sending a full film crew to Egypt, nor that he had already written 7. These statements just seem to reinforce my thinking that she was not fully in the mix with his plans.

One thing I am glad that she clarified is that the song Wasted Kisses would was not written about Amir. Looking at the lyrics I'm not sure how anyone could come to that conclusion, but I've seen posts about it on this site. It is a dark and sad song, so there is no way he would have those thoughts about his son. The song is clearly about an ex-lover with whom he had one last rendezvous with before not seeing her again.

I am glad that she cleared that up about Wasted Kisses also. I never got why people would think that either given the lyrics. I have always thought that Until You're In My Arms Again was probably about Amir though. I agree that the focus of the documentary should be on the footage she mentioned along with band interviews.

What was her story about Broken Wings? CUe me in if you don't mind. I gotta say if she wanted to earn back affection from naysayers, she could do so very easily by doing a documentary on his sense of humor. Its his best personal trait and it might explain why folks endured some of his less savory traits. It might explain why she loved this man a bit better than just stating how much she loved him and then a litany of ways he broke her heart.

Unfortunately, it will be probably focus on her work with him and be a bit self-serving. Of course, she wouldn't be alone in that tendency.

^^The thing is, he's not here to chose the people for projects, so we kinda have to trust the people who chose themselves. We have to trust them that they honor him and that they do their best to keep his legacy alive.

All we can do now, if Mayte produces the docu, is hoping that it's going to be respectful.

All the books that are out and about to be released now, I doubt he would've approved any of them, but he also wouldn't like it if a random person who met him would talk about it on FB. That's because he didn't like people talking about him in general ( I kinda get it ) but people need to talk about him, it's part of remembering him, keeping him alive not only his music, but the person behind it. So yeah, we have to trust the people who knew him, that's all we got now that he's gone.

I think I remember she talked about 3 chains O' gold in the book, but I have to look this up when I'm back home.

She said that they were at home and Prince had a funny look on his face and she asked him why he was looking at her like he was and he showed her the CD, ran up the stairs and closed the door and put it on the stereo,turning it up really loud. It's at 28:28 in the interview.Since she mentioned that she had some "funny stuff" and told the interviewer not to worry,that she wanted to share,she may be planning to spotlight that side of his personality.

this should be cool. i enjoy hearing about life with Prince from Mayte's perspective. hopefully she will include a lot of her own work and ideas too. she's quite an interesting person imo.
