Vanity 6 & Appolonia 6 & Radio play...

They don't play either of their songs on the radio...

Were their songs really big hits like that? I mean, they play the rival group's, The Mary Jane Girls' songs all of the time, so why don't you ever hear "Nasty Girl', or "Sex Shooter' on stations that play 80's hits, and how was the radio play when the songs first came out?.

Well, 'nasty girl' and 'sex shooter' were somewhat popular when they came out, but not enough to be considered a classic. I guess.
Maybe the songs are too racy?

But there is a radio station wehre I live that plays 80s music and i have heard 'sex shooter' on there so...

and 'sex shooter' was the more popular out of the two mentioned songs

I always thought that "Nasty Girl" was the more popular song.It reached the Top 10 on the R&B charts in the fall of 1982,whereas "Sex Shooter" struggled just to reach the Top 40.Even now,you are more likely to hear "Nasty Girl" in a nightclub than "Sex Shooter".

shrug Maybe it's cuase where I'm from, When "sex shooter" came out that's all I heard so maybe 'nasty girl' is the more popular.
But more non-prince fans or casual fans seem to know about 'sex shooter' and not 'nasty girl'
Since 'sex shooter' was in purple rain and all...
