I believe they helped flesh out and tweek its sound and added the instrumental music at the beginning and ending. Jerome might have seen him come up with the melody and lyrics. But sometimes, it feels like Rev members believe that P's melodies and lyrics made no sense and were musically so simple they could have been written by a chimp before the band got together with him and sometimes without him to make the songs great (Let's Go Crazy, Purple Rain, Kiss.)

According to Jerome(whom was there when Prince first wrote S.I.S.I.A) Wendy & Lisa was nowhere near.

Penny. I get where your emotions are coming from.. I feel you. But I don't need them to go into why they weren't there for Prince before he died. Odds are that he wouldn't have let them into his life if they belabored the point. I think most of them had their hands tied. I just wish they would think about how insensitive it is to do interviews discussing his flaws, their own careers and talents with only 1/4 of the interview being somewhat complimentary of P himself.. a day after their old friend's pain and suffering is being replayed for all to see in the media and pictures of his body strewn on the floor of his house are on the nightly news. the juxtaposition of that quietus interview and all that was going down that week, just pissed me off. In Andre's defense, maybe he did that interview before that stuff came out. I hope so. but it sounds like Toure (a man who met prince once) got him to restate some of the same stuff again around another anniversay (his birth.) The week of his death and his birthday should be much more reverent in my opinion. They can air out their grievances on the other 340 days of the year.

They did say some of this when PRince was alive...Andre did mention some stolen basslines and Do me baby being stolen when P was alive. But he is dead now and therefore people should also remember what made his "brother" special and unique..and it shouldn't be some kind of affirmation of P's autistic ability to copy others.

I know, they make me sick.

I wouldn't mind a TRUTHFUL interview, but all these ASSociates are trying to change the narrative, and Prince isn't here to knock them back in their place. You notice they didn't say this crap when he was alive.

Stop giving these people a purple pass & start asking REAL questions from them.

Andre has ALWAYS said the same things about Prince even before he transitioned. He is not riding any "purple money train" rolleyes . He started his comeback journey 2 years before Prince transitioned and I supported him along the way through the majority of his performances. He has went through the WHOLE story about how him and Prince met(countless times) and how Prince even visited his mother while she was on her death bed. Does that sound like someone that's not making his "brother special or unique". NO IT DOESN'T!

i know. I am being hyperbolic. I am sorry about that. But I still think he should think about how his more recent interviews are coming off. I meant "unique" in terms of artistry...not personal traits.

You are right. His comeback was starting before P's death...but I still hate that these grievances are being aired at such insensitive times and that P's individual creative ideas are being somewhat dismissed now. Like I said, 340 days a year are fine. For two weeks (one around his death and one around his birth), I think folks should remember to keep it positive, have reverence and mourn what was good about the man. A funeral eulogy shouldnt be 4 parts grievances and one part semi-compliment.

No nothing of the sort. The interview focused only on Prince's pre-fame teen years. Andre just said that at that time, Prince wasn't PRINCE; we was one talented member of a band with a lot of talent.

Is that really all he said? If that is the case, then that is much better than that Quietus interview...phew. I guess I am still stinging from that interview and its timing.

That's all I got out of it. He kind of emphasized that during those early years, they were all (well, Andre and Prince anyway, since that's who he was talking about) more or less equal members of the band; it wasn't that Prince was a big standout and they were all backing him.

-

He didn't really talk about much beyond their teenage years together. Toure asked him if Prince changed after he made his first albums, and Andre said yes, but didn't give specific examples other than saying that that kind of thing will change anyone who is malleable.

So, is he saying that "For You" and "PRince" were equal parts Andre and Prince? Or what they were doing prior to that?

No he didn't really talk about the development of those albums at all, other than to mention he told Prince he'd stay with him for those first 3 albums he was contracted for (and he did). Andre was talking about the Grand Central era.

Check out this video produced by The Current entitled "Andre Cymone live on The Local Show at the Minnesota State Fair".

"Andre Cymone, Prince's longtime friend and former bandmate, performs live and chats with host Andrea Swensson at Carousel Park..."

I listened to the interview. I like Andre. I think he isn’t enamored with P as we are. He gave P a big chuck of his life and they lived as brothers. To ask him to comment like an associate is kinda unrealistic to me. I feel he gets the liberty to speak like family. I didn’t think the interview revealed anything as Toure promises in the beginning. Andre kinda still kept to his agreement with Prince cause he never really spoke much about Or answered directly toures questions. His main tenant was they were all equals in the beginning giving to each other pushing each other pushing themselves. Seems that fateful chris moon
Path was opportunity meeting preparedness. I think for me the equalizer boils down
To a childish game of would you rather. Who would you rather be. Prince or Andre? Personally I think 57 is too young to be gone.

They have a right to earn a living. He was part of Prince history whether anyone acknowledges that or not. Fuckin' right he's making a buck. He should be! No one works for free.

Agree. If fame was the goal then Prince is the winner
If a well rounded life is the goal the Andre is the winner.
I find most value in the 2nd option.

I think Prince really needed to be famous and to play that game...according to some of the early stories from Bobby Z and Andre , Prince was rehearsing for the time he would be famous...Andre just seemed more chill and wanted to do his own thing and not get sucked up by the Prince-machine...RIP Prince and thinking of you on your b-day

THIS. My heart aches thinking about it but I think that's the truth. At times like this I think about what would've been if Amiir had survived? What kind of live would Prince have lived with his son?

But these what ifs don't bring him back either tho sad

Andre made the decision HIS DECISION! To become a producer. Because his label Columbia Records at the time kept trying to turn him into Prince. He wanted his own sound and own identity.

So ANDRE is the one that walked away from a solo career. But little did he know he would end up becoming and even more successful producer. Which led him to produce SEVERAL other artist and contribute to some soundtracks. STOP HATING!
