😂love this! Such a typical Prince story. And I like the clever way ‘the Root’ produced this video; it made me laugh. (I also love the song Prince wrote for Ms LaBelle - ‘Yo Mister’ - both her version and his. It’s so 80s but I love it). Anyway thanks Latin - our curator extraordinaire for the org 😉

I love that lady!! I've seen her perform live and she is just amazing!! I love her stories. I read her book "Patti's Pearls", and it's so beautiful--she is so real.

She cooked all that delicious food and Prince didn't eat anything!! Damn!! How could he pass-up Patti's delicious cooking?? lol

I know! He must not have been much of an eater back then. I loved the story she told Arsenio about it too!

One of the legendary performers to visit @officialpaisleypark Studios in its early days was @mspattilabelle , who recorded two of the songs on her 1989 album "Be Yourself" in Studio B with @prince .

Patti remembered her time at Paisley Park in a recent interview with Vanity Fair: "When I recorded with him, I think I might have been there for a week, and he made the week feel like Christmas," she said. "He had his studio there that they design clothes for him in Paisley Park, and he had me go up, and they made me three outfits. He gave a little party for me at a disco and we danced, did the disco bunny hop." She also recalled a humorous story about trying to impress her host with her home cooking: "He took me to his house to cook for him, and he was shooting pool as I was cooking, and when everything was done, I said, ‘Dinner's ready!’ He said, ‘Oh, I just want a roll.’" Their friendship and mutual appreciation continued throughout the years. In 2010, when Prince received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the @betawards , Patti LaBelle joined @janellemonae , @esperanzaspalding , and @aliciakeys in a moving performance of Prince's hits. As Alicia and Patti passionately sang "Purple Rain," Patti's shoe flew into the crowd and was caught by none other than Prince himself, who was clearly impressed by her performance.
