TV show Star based on Vanity 6?

I am a fan of the TV show Star starring Queen Latifah and was wondering if the show's creator had Vanity 6 in mind when creating it. The girl group have similarities with V6 - there's the white girl, black girl and bi racial girl who has a drug problem and and looks like a young Vanity. They also dress and act in a sexy way. What do u guys think?
