Oh my gawd! I forgot about this! Thank you for posting this! I remember when I saw this the first time, (I didn't really know anything about Prince's band members back then), I was thinking "this guy is trying to be Prince." It wasn't until later that I discovered he was connected to Prince. *blush* Back then, I didn't really didn't pay attention to band names, band members, etc., it was just about the music, not who was playing it. Oy!

This song/album era just was such an example of what Paisley Park could have been.

When this all first came out, I just knew Jesse was still a Prince protege.

This was a great song from a wonderful album.

I have "Be Your Man" 12" single on hot pink vinyl. I had two but I traded with another Orger (got the 12" of "Gold" on translucent gold vinyl).

I have the other albums, too. Every Shade of Love is my favorite of his first three. It's a harder R&B vibe but it was some quasi-Funkadelic guitar work on it, too.

Love the track. Have to admit i'm not a huge fan of the album - it's not all my kind of thing. I get the impression he was under pressure to write in the Minneapolis sound kind of vibe, which maybe he didn't really want to do, but goddam he was so good at it!
