So the Mazarati album will be a re-recording by Brown Mark and not a proper remaster/re-release?!
The original Japanese CD is still going for $500+. The Mazarati CD, the Apollonia 6 CD and Tamar's CD are the only ones I still don't have because there going for rediculous amount of money so a proper re-release or remaster would be great. [Edited 3/8/18 2:56am] |

I guess neither Mark nor Mazarati can rerelease Mazarati without WB's agreement and WB isn't interested (unless Prince got the masters back in 94 but I believe that one remained with WB).
.
He and the band are taking a HUGE risk by rerecording such a beloved classic: even if the result is a masterpiece people will compare it to the original and it's unlikely many fans will prefer the new version. It's exactly why it wasn't a good idea for Prince to rerecord 1999 or his other WB records in the late 90's: no whatter what he'd have done, he'd have gotten a shitload of namecalling for "slaughtering the classics". Prepare yourself for some serious Brownmark and Mazarati bashing when this gets out
.
Tamar's Mil & Honey was never released, BTW, what you see on ebay are a few Japanese copies that were printed before the release was cancelled and somehow found their way out of Universal's offices. |

Can I say I told so about this dude. I don't mind that rerecording. If I like it I'll be happy to enjoy it and if I don't I can always go back to the old record. I was merely anticipating many a fan's reaction. |

Ah ok, I thought Tamar's CD was the same thing like with Appolonia 6 and Mazarati, as in a limited Japan only release. Thanks for the info! So Tamar's CD is like the 'associated artist' version of the 'Black Album' then |

Oh please no I absolutely hate it when an artist re-records an album! I want the original Mazarati album, freshly remastered....not a re-recording!

It is Mark trying to make a buck. He has that Revolution show money and is anxious to blow it . |

According to Lisa, they are losing money on the shows the Rev is doing. |

Maybe Wendy and Lisa are losing money because they would make more money working in Hollywood scoring tv shows. I am not sure if the rest of the band were doing anything that was more financially beneficial than touring together. one can not tour as long as they have not even breaking even..

NOPE, she didn't say only Wendy & I are losing money. She said THE REV is losing money.
According to Coleman, The Revolution is losing money when it performs and that’s fine.
“It’s definitely an act of love,” she said.

Yep, I really really felt it with this latest interview she did. Really. Truly.

I don't know what to think.. I went from mad at her to more understanding and now I wonder what "love" she is referring to. Love for fans, love for each other or love for Prince. Sometimes, I think P is rather low on that list. I hope not.

live versions are better than re-recordings. You just cant do re-recordings.....just will never be the same. Just perform the whole album live why not. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Before this he wasn't spending money on touring. Booking all those venues isn't cheap.

If the ORIGINAL Mazarati album is reissued, I will buy it on CD AND LP. If Mark re-records the album and releases that instead, I will pirate a copy from the internet, listen to it once and file it away, never to be played again, then proceed to deride it every opportunity I get. Just bein' honest...
