outstanding Shelby J interview This interview stripped some of my cynicism away... thorough, affectionate, and convincing description of her feelings regarding Prince as a musician, mentor, and friend. .. She made a convincing argument for Prince on the Big Screen as well. I think perhaps Prince's concern over holograms (of any shape or form) was a bit off. I think these kind of collaborations between older visuals/audios and live work (when done respectfully on a screen rather than in more creepy ways) may not have been what he wanted, but they might be what his legacy, his associates, and his fans need. When I say associates, i don't mean just what they need financially necessarily. The Revolution tours use fans and their memories as a substitute for Prince. NPG use a young singer to fill the vocals. this performance uses Prince (a large beautiful, almost cinematic version)--I can tell you which one I would rather see (especially if it is rare or unheard live footage.)

Thanks for sharing! The Indigo Nights CD from the 21 Nights book features a version of “Misty Blue” by you that is so beautiful, and it’s become my favorite version of that song. How did you and Prince decide what covers you would perform across the various tours? He loved that long, but I would bring songs to him. For instance, I love the Doobie Brothers, so I brought “Long Train Running,” and he was like “That would work really great.” He was always open to suggestions. But “Misty Blue,” he always loved that song, and he emailed me “Learn this. I can just hear you doing this.” Or “Baby Love,” that was one of the first songs he sent me when I was still in Carolina getting ready to come back and join him for that New Year’s Eve gig. “Never Loved A Man”—songs he liked to hear and he’d be like “Make them yours.” I sang “Misty Blue” at his funeral, which we had a Paisley Park. Tyka [Nelson, Prince’s sister] asked me to sing that. I was honored to do that for him. OK I want to hear this. Paisley Park is in your heart
