If I remember correctly, Nikki Sixx was scoping her out for YEARS before he got with her. Which man she was with first or the timeline of lovers doesn't matter now. I agree. Denise came across as a classy woman, whose journey by God's grace took her on a road of spiritual growth. Similarly, I think that Prince too for that matter seems to me to have grown into a much nicer, more loving, forgiving and wiser man over the years.

Of all Prince's associates, I bet Denise would have made for one of the most interesting and enjoyable companions. Van Jones related in an interview Prince's uncanny infallibility, when it came to reading folks and judging character, and to me Denise seems to have been a good example of this. It's sad that she was called Home so young, but God's timing is perfect, and hopefully she is good company for Prince, God-willing.

As for the OP's question, I didn't even know Denise had dated Adam Ant. let alone which order she dated them in. With Prince and Adam on her 'pop-tart' (as you put it) resume, Denise certainly didn't do things by half. Those boys were so handsome, they'd have confused even the straightest of men back in the day.

I love the fact that Denise gave such an open and honest witness, after her conversion. Watching some of the clips on youtube, I admire her. She strikes me as a very impressive and most capable woman.

Coincidentally, I dug out my old Adam and the Ants albums earlier this week. Sadly they are no longer in good playing condition. I guess that's a good sign though, as they must have got a lotta love over my childhood years to have ended up so worn out.

I used to have the poster from Kings on the Wild Frontier on my wall as a kid, and fairly thought Adam was the business (though I now suspect his guitarist, Marco Pirroni, probably had a big hand in his success).

Years later the posters from Sign O The Times and Lovesexy replaced Adam up on my bedroom wall. When I got back from my first term at College, my Mom had binned the lot of them! Bad Mom, Naughty Mom!

I bet she was dying for an opportunity to take down that Lovesexy poster, heh-heh!

Adam Ant wrote an autobiography a few years ago. I believe he met her in Japan when s he was modeling which would be before Rick James.

He apparently went to meet her while she was on the road with Prince doing the 1999 tour.

You do know Carmine A wrote a book and said he shared a rented house coutersy of WB when Prince opened for the Rollings Stones in 81. He said he walked in on Prince and Vanity in bed. See below Also see the date of the Rolling Stone show. I think Adam has his dates mixed up or he was not aware that Vanity was already seeing Prince. She had been seeing him after the America Music Awards in early 82 and was on the 82 Controversy Tour per Dez. Later she went to MN with Prince in early 83 per Jill Jones. I think she was seeing both of them thus the threat of violence.

She was dating both of them. The Rolling Stone show was Oct. 9, 1981. If she jumped on the Controversy bus in early 82 and Adam met her in 82 as well she was dating both. No reason for Prince to be jealous of Adam professionally and no dude wants to share his girlfriend with some other dude.

It's funny actually, how alike they both were - both juggling women while talking of marriage all the time. And both anxious for success in the biz, up to a point of depressive and aggressive phases. Adam actually liked Prince but P, he said, was jealous, both professionally and personally.

She was dating both of them. The Rolling Stone show was Oct. 9, 1981. If she jumped on the Controversy bus in early 82 and Adam met her in 82 as well she was dating both. No reason for Prince to be jealous of Adam professionally and no dude wants to share his girlfriend with some other dude.

Was Rick James even a thing? Why do I remember a thread months back, in which it was confirmed that Vanity had no connection to Rick James whatsoever. Maybe Toban (brother in law) shared it?

It seems to me that she was seeing Adam while in Japan modeling and then they parted ways from there. Later, they rekindled a fling after she and Prince broke up. Again, I thought this was something shared here not too long ago. I may be wrong.

From what I read, Prince stole Vanity (Denise) from Rick James.

That’s right he (Prince) stole Vanity from Rick, who was Rick’s artist at the time and was going to be the lead singer of The Mary Jane Girls. After Prince called her up and persuaded Vanity to go on a date with him as his date to the American Music Awards, Vanity never looked back and became the lead singer of Prince’s girl group, Vanity 6, instead.

I thought from her book her manager gave her a ticket to the AMA and she met Prince at the show but had been seen with Rick before.

I don't know what to think, because I read in an article somewhere that Prince met Vanity at the AMA's (she was Rick's date).....and she dumped Rick for Prince.

Born Denise Matthews, her life changed in 1980 when she met Prince at the American Music Awards.

There are so many articles out there with different scenarios and dates but the story with the manager giving her tickets to AMA is how she described it in at least one of the interviews- Donnie Simpson maybe? She didn't mention anything about Rick, but IIRC, Toban said that she met Prince, Rick, and MJ all that awards show and that all gave some sort of "proposal", even in passing.
