Wow people are still going on about this? What are you going to do come April with the tribute at Target Center which will feature a band (I’m assuming NPG) playing along to video of Prince? Also I thought for something to be a hologram it had to be 3D? Paisley Park is in your heart

. Because Prince never cared for JT. There was only one PRINCE, and neither JT or anyone else will ever be able to walk in his shoes.
How do we know this? Seems like projection from fans that don’t like JT. Paisley Park is in your heart

This whole thing with JT from him being chosen to perform at the SuperBowl to the listening party to the lackluster halftime performance was riddled with inconsistent info. on who made decisions. It is foul.

True.Justin and Prince did not seem to be friends. He was at a lot of Prince's parties in Beverly Hills and he jammed with the band at one or two.I don't recall if Justin went to more parties after the GGs.Ruth just said that they didn't have a problem with each other.

. Prince was very specific and said he didn't want anyone doing a Hologram of him after he passed. He didn't want anyone signing a duet with his vocal track. Doing anything otherwise, just shows the lack of respect for his wishes. How hard is that to comprehend? . I'm starting to wonder where the real Prince fans are around this place.

. Sure is!! . A lot of people are hinting that a hologram was in fact planned -- something that Prince was strongly against. . Originally featuring a Prince hologram “artfully dodging men in black” with “funky dance moves“, while “spitting insightful lyrics about the New World Order and the reality of the world we live in,” the hologram performance was “vetoed by producers and Super Bowl organizers” on the morning of the game. . “At the very end, an agent shot the hologram in the back and Prince suddenly disappeared, before Justin launched into Mirrors. The meaning wasn’t as obvious as that, if you didn’t know what to look for. But it made some people very nervous.” . According to members of Justin Timberlake’s choreography, the late cancelation of the Prince hologram left Timberlake with a half-baked halftime show that was “more like a run of the mill concert than a spectacular Super Bowl show.“ . http://yournewswire.com/j...ti-prince/

There is an interview on TMZ with Sheila were she is hinting that the hologram was a corporate idea that Justine had no decision. If Pepsi paid for everything this would make sense.

Well we have to then apply this to ALL of the tributes folks not just the ones we dont like or we dont like the person doing it. Morris Day had Prince on a screen many shows and with vocals, Shelia did it, NPG did it, also Morgan James who does a kick ass cover of "Call My Name" which Prince told her he loved and gave blessings too, when I saw her this year and this was done in the spirit of a tribute PRINCE appeared on a screen behind her, not singing just a still image. SO I get it, but if its not cool for JT to do it with a vocal behind him then its not cool for Morris and SHelia to do, PRINCE did not say "Its demonic if so and so does it but not if this person does it" he said it as a full blanket statement. . I understand your point, however, I don't see Sheila's and Morris' tributes to Prince anything close to what JT did.

Isn’t a hologram 3D? Also the tribute concert at Target Center on April 21 will feature video footage of Prince with a backing band. Surely the Estate signed off on that. Paisley Park is in your heart

. Yes, it's 3D. I don't have an issue with an artist having Prince's image project on-screen, but not in the way that JT did it. He was singing along with Prince; which Prince did not want (duets). He said if he was meant to jam with Duke Ellington; he would have lived in the same time period, and I agree with him, 100%. It was cheesy and something that Prince would never do. It was basically like Karaoke.......imo.

. . Oh, but we are wrong for respecting Prince's wishes. Aint' that a bitch? . So, now we live in an age where respecting someone's legacy/wishes is wrong and so uncool? . WTF?

Let's say, for arguments sake, that it was Prince's dying wish that his vault of unreleased recordings was to be locked up and never heard by anyone. But, going against his final wish, his family decided to release all that music on an iTunes-type online store and also some select projects like Black is the New Black on CD and vinyl. Would you, as a Prince fan, abide by his final wish and not purchase or listen to these recordings or would you willingly go against what he wanted and seek out every available piece of music you could? Because I know what I'd do...

. I get where you are going with this, but it's not the same thing. Prince would never keep his music from his fans -- I don't see him ever wanting to do that.

I don't mean to try catch you out or anything like that. I'm genuinely asking how you would handle a situation like that. Obviously you're free to choose to do whatever you want but if this hypothetical scenario was real, then I would have no qualms whatsoever about going against his final wishes. I'm a Prince fan purely because I love the music he made. His personal wishes and whims are completely secondary to me. Now, that's not to say that I'd go out of my way to go against them but if they got in the way of me listening to his music, then I'd tend to ignore them. That's why I can understand where JT, and anyone else for that matter, doing Prince tributes that may go against what Prince himself would have wanted. He's a Prince fan so he has every right to sing Prince songs. However, if I was to approach the situation differently, and think "how would I feel if part of the reason for me being a Prince fan is because I liked Prince, the person, in equal measure to Prince, the musician", then I can understand why you feel as strong as you do regarding the whole Justin Timberlake situation. Basically, what I'm saying is that I don't believe that you're "wrong" for taking umbrage to the tribute. But, you also have to understand that not every Prince fan cared that much about his personal wants or wishes. Some Prince fans just love the music he made and that's as far as it goes. It doesn't make them any less of a fan, they just approach fandom differently.
