Tyka says Prince would have been fine with Timberlake's tribute... https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/super-bowl/8098387/princes-sister-said-he-wouldnt-have-been-mad-at-justin-timberlakes

We don't have to wonder what Tyka, me, you or anyone else thinks about what Prince would have thought about the performance. Prince spoke on this exact topic himself and said that he did not want to perform with any other artists after he passed. He called it demonic. Justin performed I Would Die 4 U with Prince. There is really nothing to extrapolate. With that said, I think everyone is being hard on Justin. It is not like he meant to do harm to Prince or his fans. His intentions were probably positive, but Prince and his fans have a different standard.

2) you don't speak for all fans, not by a long shot. It's the problem with most Prince fans - they think they know Prince the best and everyone else is a devil if they don't agree. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

No, he said if he was meant to jam with Ellington he would have been born back then. I think Prince's comments are crystal clear and once again the sibs have no say on any transaction below 2 million.
Tyka has no choice but to say she is okay with it. We will not know what their real thoughts are until the probate ends.

I just want to know where was the RESPECT when Prince was ALIVE! People dissed him left and right ... and now they want to do TRIBUTES???? Where was the LOVE when he could hear and see it??? NO WHERE to be found ... and now that he's dead people want to atone themselves for the crappy way they treated him ... he can't hear or see the tributes ... did anyone tell him THANK YOU when he was alive ... NOPE! But but he would be "fine" ... No wonder he didn't like posthumous tributes because he knew they were FAKE

That is it- he was not dead- he was speaking of when he would no longer be on earth. . The argument boggles my mind. It is very simple but people feel the need to justify doing something Prince said while alive he was not in favor of. The duet is done and the only saving grace is AS PROVIDENCE WOULD HAVE IT THE AUDIO WAS POOR . Prince has transitioned,is a memory and as it stands now a commodity to be used for coins , notoriety and hype for those who choose to partake and indulge in such things. [Edited 2/7/18 19:17pm]

I guess you did notice the cringe of his face on some of those performances?

He got respect from those who know something about music. There were people who dissed him and I am sure they are still dissing him but for some reason want to cash in at the same time.
No worries Karma is coming for those people. Fake people fall on their swords all the time and I think Prince knew that as he never commented on the foolishness.
Some of the associates literally have nothing else going on but riding the purple gravey train and that speaks volumes about them and their so-called carreer.

And I guess Prince would've been 'fine' with his music on Youtube and Spotify too?

Folks sometimes need to take a step or 2 back sometimes this stuff will suck ones mind in. Too many living people who need this kind of energy spent on them.

I would not give a fuck if he sung around his vocals. Timberlake was on the stage and Prince was on the screen= performing/jamming together.
When you say something is fucking demonic does that really seem like a point of view that would change? According to other band members he said again in 2012.
To me it was just corny. The tributes all need to stop.

Because that is more important then what he wanted? Because that seem to be what is really going on.

If Prince had left a will that stated that all vault material be destroyed would you be happy to see that music destroyed because "its what he wanted"? Because I sure wouldn't. I'd rather see his music released and freely available to all who want it.

Timberlake singing under the vocals was an audio screw up thanks to Providence NOT JT. He wanted the duet but providence took over thankfully. . Moral of this story- do not mess with Prince. .

That was only at the beginning. TMZ also was running the stupid hologram rumor.

Or you can stop watching and griping about it. That's ALSO an option.

There is more media listed besides TMZ. I listed NY Post, EW and I am going to post links to Washington Post, Forbes and Pitchfork. The fact is not about rumors anymore. The fact is JT was subjected to poor audio quality and lackluster performance- it was not well received by peeps and not just disgruntled Prince fans. If you take time to read the articles you will see it is a well rounded swell of voices who did not appreciate JT's performance. It is not about rumor it is about what went down. . Washington Post: This is how Justin Timberlake lost the Super Bowl:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2018/02/04/this-is-how-justin-timberlake-lost-the-super-bowl/?utm_term=.aa93db2545e9 . Washingt on Post: The Super Bowl featured Prince and Martin Luther King. Is it what they would have wanted? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2018/02/05/the-super-bowl-featured-prince-and-martin-luther-king-is-this-what-they-would-have-wanted/?utm_term=.640b00a50ad3 . Forbes: Justin Timberlake and Tom Brady Were The Super Bowl's biggest losers: https://www.forbes.com/sites/bryanrolli/2018/02/05/justin-timberlake-tom-brady-super-bowl-losers/#27fe2cfa1fed . Pitchfork: Justin Timberlakes's Super Bowl Halftime Show: meh personified https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/justin-timberlakes-super-bowl-halftime-show-meh-personified/ . You can say they are all media full of lies and rumor if you wish but there are more saying the same so TMZ may be not reputable but NOT everyone.

I thought the tribute was fine. I was underwhelmed by JT's performance as a whole, but I didn't see anything wrong with the tribute section. - I think some folks frustration with various tributes might stem from their frustration that Prince isn't alive to perform himself. The reality is, if we want there to be any awareness of Prince in pop culture, it's going to come mostly through recordings of him, video and audio. When Prince was alive, he had certain viewpoints about how his music should be presented and available (no YouTube, etc.) But he also had ways to keep himself at least somewhat in the public eye, with live concerts, appearances at award shows, etc. But those options involving Prince himself are now over, so I think that fans have to accept that there have to be new ways to reach audiences, including ways that didn't get his complete stamp of approval while he was alive and "out there" promoting his work himself.

I agree with you about his music getting out but it is not so hard to do holograms or duets with him with holograms or images on sheets - same/same. . There is using his music in TV ,movies, shows, etc.; people can do covers of his songs too- there are many ways than doing a duet in a "tribute". I think most people realize his music has to be heard to go through the generations. People are not dumb. It is the use of Prince for others gain and the blatant hype at his expense. . If it had been someone other than Justin it might be different too.

. Of course she's going to say that. The family did not have any say in the half-time show or JTs tribute to Prince.

. JT is taking a lot of criticism for his half-time show and tribute to Prince and I'm sure he knew it would be coming. . If you want to do a tribute to honor Prince, then honor his wishes, which were NO HOLOGRAMS or singing with a vocal track and his image up on stage. He thought it was demonic. Period! . No one has yet to come forward to confirm whether or not there was a hologram planned for JTs Prince tribute. They were trying to pull the wool over our eyes. . JTs tribute to Prince was so wrong and demonic. Prince would never do that to any artist. They mocked Prince's death up on stage for all to see. It was disgusting.

. Exactly!! . UMG has the rights to Prince's image, and his estate/family has no say in the matter.
