NPG singer Marva King - photo & quote NPG singer Marva King - photo & quote
Sharing a FB post I just published about my interview with former NPG singer Marva King for MIT’s student newspaper The Tech. (Sadly the interview was never published)
Great memories talking with former Prince and New Power Generation 4-octave range Diva Marva King during a visit in LA. Check out her music!
On inspiring young women artists: “I have been independent for years, I do things the way I think is best. Sometimes I make mistakes, sometimes it turns out good. The bottom line is I go for what I think. And that’s the way I think I like about Prince. He has encouraged me in the past, through his actions he has shown me how to do it, so that I can pass that on to other women and say Have no fear, go knock on doors, learn to produce, learn to write, learn to run your own company, learn where your talents are, learn where to find where your money is, which I am doing right now. Be independent. Be fearless, have courage to go forward, and listen to your inner voice more than anybody else’s voice. Everybody has got opinions, but nobody is going to see your vision like you.” Los Angeles (June 2011)
