You cannot hate on Susannah because THEY ALL are exploitating Prince. Some more blatant but if any of them are making money or ge tting buzz or PR due to Prince they are pimping his corpse. It is 2017 going into 2018 and some just started now on the gravy train.

.

If Sussanah is getting made example then so should all the others including bands, ex wives and those who wannabe seen as girlfriendse- It is equal oppty and to me they are all one and the same and if they can do it so can Susannah.

Name one person who was in his inner circle that isn't trying to make money off of him. I can't think of anyone who isn't doing something along these lines.

Me either so they all are doing it and Sussanah cannot be singled out. Let her do it as all the others are doing- like it or not she was there too- Prince placed her there as he did the others so it is what it is.

A whole website dedicated to that one half of a song she got involved in?

I don't think Prince - out of all the songs he has written - ever had any long term website boasting his own work, apart from the temporary music club and other album release promotional pages, which were primarily aimed at sharing new stuff with the fans.

There is definitely a slight exploitative aspect to this (what she is selling ain't cheap) that cannot be ignored. I understand the need for cash, but perhaps she could try something new and of her own especially since she is an artist, rather than just resting on her connections with other artists.

So that alone is putting me off buying anything, even if I might have otherwise done so.

eh so what.
You were not going to buy it anyway.

It is a drop in a bucket of time.

I'm not even going to buy it, but I'm not going to judge her on it.
Jill Jones is doing the same with her 1987 album name fonts on tshirts and mugs
I like the mugs for both JJ and Susannah

other people are doing the same.

No one heard of Wally since 1987 and now he is doing interviews and helping hosting purple parties

...not one peep out of anyone.

And I like Wally, never was a 'fan' of Gregory Brooks.

.

People into 'purple history' collecting may buy, obviously people are.

lol I absolutely love when women on the internet claim this - WITHOUT ever backing up their claim with a photo, of course. (but then you'd have to trust they were posting an actual, recent picture of themselves) In all my years using the internet and reading message boards and such, I've concluded every other woman on the internet "looks 10 to 15 years younger" than their age, or "can pass for X years younger!" than their age, etc. Hilarious!

So people should post pics of themselves and let crazy assholes stalk them to prove a point? Think about it for a minute. Unless you have a serious eye problem anyone can see that Sue is not keeping her self up.

My or anyone eles's apperance is not going to change that and nothing will change her desperation for money and attention which does not seem to involve doing anything of merit or riding off of Prince's coatails.

Thirsty 4 Attention. I even gave U the benefit of using 4

True
.
Damaris is the only one he publicly was seen with who we do not hear from nor her stans. I am sick of ALL if the widow brigade but if M1 and Andy s d Sheila E. get to be heard them so do M2, Jill. Lala and whomever else - equal opportunity.

It's an interesting idea. Imagine if everyone involved with him gave no interviews, played no music related to him, wrote no books and an absolute silence had descended since his death. I wonder where we'd be now if that had happened?

They probably just don't have anything to say.

.

Damaris did a few talks/interviews after he died. But what more would she actually be able to say...

.

online mags try to push the girlfriend angle, but Damaris denied that. In October she spoke against PP opening as a museum. I don't think I heard anything Prince related from her since.

Damaris is cool and she's doing her own thing with her candle line,Flo.Andy doesn't seem to want to discuss him anymore and she's taking a break from Music Monday for a while.Lala just posts fun stories every now and then on Twitter and has a candle line as well that's unattached to Prince.

Andy is the main one playing the game with Prince fans. She is coy about it though at least M1, Susannah and Sheilah are direct and not playing with fans. Girlfriend has her pub over it so . . . . as?I said ALL of them doing the same thing.

Prince organised whole concerts and gave the money to charity... In 2007, for only £25 you could see him perform for over 3 hours and even dance with him (at no extra cost lol) ... And now an ex-girlfriend who co-wrote one song is selling a commercial looking Christmas bauble labelled as an 'artistic ornament' at $17 a pop and some find this a justified way to pay Prince a tribute? rolleyes

I think we would be just fine as long as we had the music and his videos including stuff he had in his vault.
.
However I repeat- Susannah has a right to sell/pimp/ market Prince just as all the rest have done.

They are a much bigger part of Prince's legacy than Andy.Apparently she presented herself as a former girlfriend in the documentary but she hasn't said anything about it yet.I haven't heard her mention Prince in months and she did a FB Q&A yesterday and ignored the one question about him.

i think it is equal oppy, it just here the talk is of the ornament. But the exploits aren't

limited to SM. And the exploits are in varing degrees, some low and some higher.

where did anyone attribute the ornament to paying tribute? rolleyes

.

When she originally did the Starfish & Coffee tshirts, that wasn't about a tribute. And if I'm not mistaken it was in the works before Prince passed away.

Then if there is nothing commemorative about this, the mere fact that she uses Prince's name all over her website is even more exploitative!

This appears on the page about the 'author':

'Susannah Melvoin is the lyricist on "Starfish & Coffee," a song she co-wrote with Prince
in 1987. This is the ONLY OFFICIAL MERCHANDISE SITE. You can tell an official shirt by Susannah's signature, which appears underneath the large text on the front of the shirts.
Thank you for supporting the person who co-wrote this song with Prince!'

Who did she co-write the song with again? lol

From what I remember, she saw Questlove wearing an unofficial fan-made version of that shirt at an awards tribute and posted about it.

Hey, if anyone is going to make money off her intellectual property, it should be her. Good on her for jumping on it, frankly.

But yeah, I don't remember her framing it as a tribute, either.

i think if it had gone dark on books, vault discussion and selling of merch. for 3 yrs after death. i

think it would been a great tribute to him. to give him that silence and truly an act of letting

him RIP. I think that silence would have allowed a real sense of legacy formation to happen. the

accept that the shock of Prince's passing reminded us that people die before 'the time we think they should'
.
No one can promise any of us/them 3 yrs to be quiet alive.

.

This is also why I wish the Estate will kick in with some sense and release music/videos.

For fans who've been with Prince since the early days, those who are much older, and the artists/musicians/singers who worked on the stuff/ worked with Prince.

I'd think that Kim Basinger could do interviews if she wanted, I'm sure she has some interesting stories about Prince she could share

Susan Moonsie isn't really doing anything these days to "make money off" Prince

Have/are 'Diamond' and 'Pearl' (dancers) done/doing anything to make money off Prince since his passing?

I personally know two engineers that worked for Prince at Paisley Park for years that have said NOTHING since his passing, and they definitely have stories to tell that could make them a few dollars.
