The album version goes on way too long, but it was always a joy in concert.

Classic jam.Prince totally dominates this song it's more of a 'Prince featuring Sheila E.' song instead of the other way around, lol

btw, what do you guys think of Krush Groove? I think Sheila was good in it,but the movie seems like it was thrown together really quickly. Not much substance.

I love this song so much! Prince's vocals made the song for me! Anyone else wanted to punch the white guy in the video lipsyncing in P's place? I ain't f¥©king just for kicks!

No it doesn't. Thankfully, there's the single edit for you to enjoy A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Sheila was the best part of Krush Groove. She carried the movie. It's one of those films that seems 2 have disappeared without a trace. I wish some TV Channel would show it. Also Prince should have been in the Love Bizarre video. It would have been a bigger hit and it would have been hot seeing them 2gether.

Never understood why they recorded it without the extra horn parts and "new part" that comes in 1/2 way on the Romance 1600 Live version. .. . I find the album version almost unlistenable cuz in my head I hear the extra parts. . . Sheila actually does it even better on her own since then, making it funkier and jazzier in her live shows

It's on DVD. I've seen it for sale at Best Buy. The Bounce TV channel sometimes show those 1980s rap movies like Krush Groove, Disorderlies, & Beat Street. Bounce is a regular free channel. I don't think it's on cable/satellite. Since it's broadcast TV, any profanity is bleeped out or dubbed with substitute words. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I always loved that song, even to this day! You can tell it's a Prince creation!

I agree! It should have been 7-8 minutes tops. Just like the white winged dove...

It was an extended dance record made for club play. Many artist had long playing album cuts back in the day. It is fine just like he made it. I can recall RnB stations playing entire song all the time.

Not many artists had 12 minute tracks, most 12"-es or long album tracks would run 7 minutes tops. And the song does not go anywhere, there is no build-up or climax or percussion solo which is why it feels overlong to me. Just like the white winged dove...

Maybe it feels overlong because you cannot dance. Got to Give It Up is a long album cut and there are quite a lot of others.
